    This law banded settlement in certain western lands. The purpose of this was to reduce tensions between the colonist and native americans.

    The purpose of the Sugar Act was to stop the smuggling of goods into and out of the colonies. It gave power to the British Navy to be able to search colonial ships. It requires products such as tobacco, sugar, and timber to be shipped directly from the colonies to Britian. It taxed on cloth, sugar, coffee, and wine coming into the colonies.

    British Troops opened fire on a crowd of protestors outside the customs house in Boston, 5 people died. The colonists believed that the British Government would use military force to make them obey the laws. This event was a cause of the Declaration of Independence.
