French and Indian War- The French and Indian War was a 7 year war between 1756-1763. The French kept crossing over the Ohio river valley to create Conflict with British colonies. Britain finally declares war, feeling threatened by the possible loss in territory and wealth from France. In the end of the war Britain was left in great det so they started to tax the colonies to gain money. The colonies were not happy at all and would start boycotts and object to paying their taxes. -
Sugar Act-In 1764 The first tax act the British Parliament passed was the Sugar Act. This act taxed sugar and decreased taxes on molasses in British colonies. colonists boycotted the taxes and goods being imported from Great Britain. -
Stamp Act- 1765 the Stamp Act was passed due to the French and Indian war. This act added taxes to any paper document. The colonies saw this as an act that was unconstitutional and the second act they have done to get out of det. It started mob violence and people were mad at these outrageous acts being made and would attack tax collectors. -
Declaratory Act- 1766 the Declaratory Act was passed so was the Stamp act being repealed. This act meant the Parliament could make laws binding the colonies in all cases whatsoever, giving them the right to tax. The colonies had not much of a reaction because they were excited the stamp act was repealed. -
Townshend Act- 1767 this Act was passed by the British and it stated that all imported goods will be taxed. The british thought the colonies would be fine with this but no it fueled their rage even greater and they refused goods from Britain. -
1773 the Tea Act was passed which let the British sell tea to the colonies directly and they did for a cheaper price but what made the Colonists mad is that they cut off the American traders originally so they could make more profit. The British were still financially in debt looking for money. They took down all the townshend taxes besides the tea. This made tea really expensive. The way the colonists react with boycotts was throwing the tea in the water or letting it sit on the dock. -
Revolutionary War.- In 1775 the 13 colonies went to war against the British fo9r freedom from Britain. The American colonies won the war and grand freedom and this was when they wrote the Declaration of Independence.
