    I was born at Holy Redeemer Hospital on July 20th, 2001. I was born to Jason Barrett Sr. and Christan Byrne. I'm the oldest.
  • 9/11 Terrorist Attacks

    9/11 Terrorist Attacks
    On September 11, 2001 hijackers took over 4 American airplanes. The first two airplanes hit the twin towers killing about 2,600 people in it's self. The third plane hit the pentagon in Virginia killing almost 150 people. The fourth plane was believed to be taken down by the passengers and crew and crashed in Pennsylvania. Suspicion landed on Al-Qaeda, a radical sunni muslim group led by Osama Bin Laden. After 9/11, we entered a war called the "War on Terrorism" against al-Qaeda. (www.bbc.co.uk)
  • No Child left Behind Act is signed

    No Child left Behind Act is signed
    The No Child Left behind Law was a national law that held school's responsible for the outcomes of the Student's grades. The act was a result of the partnership of civil rights and buisness groups, as well as both the democratic and republic parties, and the bush administration. The point of the Act was to attempt to achieve a gap closing between children that are poor and more wealthy students. The Law was replaced by the Every Student Succeeds in December, 2015.     Iraqi War
    The Iraqi War began on March 20th, 2003 when America invaded Iraq. We invaded Iraq because Saddam Hussein was suspected of sponsoring terrorist groups to fight the Iranian and Turkish Governments. Another reason is because Iraq invaded Kuwait, which destabilized the region and threatened the oil market. When America kicked Iraq out of Kuwait, Saddam Hussein issued an assassination attempt of George W Bush, which ultimately failed. In December of 2011, America withdrew all troops.(www.e-ir.info)

    George W Bush was re elected
    In 2004, President George W Bush won his second presidential election, beating Democratic nominee John F Kerry. Kerry put up a good fight, but after George W Bush had won the 27 electoral votes from Florida, he recessed. George began his term with republican majorities in both the house and senate. In 2008, George was relieved of his presidential duties, leaving a clear path for President Barack Obama to step up and become the first African American president. (http://www.washingtonpost.com)

    Hurricane Katrina
    Hurricane Katrina was a storm that devastated the Gulf Coast. The storm itself did up to $100 Billion dollars in damage. Thousands of people were misplaced from the homes, and they called out to the Government for help. However, the Government was unprepared for the disaster. FEMA took almost a week to set up operations in New Orleans, and even than they didn't really have a plan. There are still some people today, 11 years later, who haven't gotten help yet.     Ban on Smoking in Cars with Children present
    Arkansas was the first state to ban this stating that you can't smoke in a car with children under the age of 6 present. This led to 7 other states making laws, as well as Puerto Rico. Arkansas later changed the law to not smoking in cars with somebody under the age of 14 present. The law varies in each state, but the most extraordinary is in California where you can't smoke in a car with someone under the age of 18 present. (www.no-smoke.org)

    I started Grade School at St. James, but it closed as I was going into 4th grade. I started 4th grade at St. Hilary of Poitiers school and graduated there.
  • President Barack Obama is elected

    President Barack Obama is elected
    Barack Obama was elected as the first African American president. In his first election he beat out John Mccain, and for his second election he beat out Mitt Romney. Obama was born in Hawaii, but after his parents seperated, his mom married a Indonesian man and they moved to Jakartha. He moved back with his Grandparents and attended a private school. He went to Columbia University in New York, than won senate election in Illinois, starting hid political carrier. (www.history.com)

    I got my first dog, Sammy at my local pool. She was a pitbull-dalmation. She died last year of Cancer.
  • Tommy's birth

    My little brother Tommy was born at Holy Redeemer Hospital. He weighed 7.7 pounds.

    My Stepdad Dad and Mom got married at Lorimer Park.
  • Emma's birth

    My little sister Emma was born at Holy redeemer hospital. She weighed 8.6 pounds.
  • Benghazi Attack's

    Benghazi Attack's
    On September 11th, 2012, gunman invaded a United States compound in Benghazi, Libya. They climb the walls, disarm the gates, and set the buildings on fire. They recieve backup from an annex a mile away, but the security is so bad they decide to flee to a nearby annex. The second attack is repelled, and they receive backup from Tripoli. The third attack is by mortar fire and 4 people die. The survivors are flown out. Hillary Clinton is often criticized for no doing enough in response. (newsy.com)

    Hurricane Sandy
    Hurricane Sandy lasted from October 22 to November 2, 2012.Hurricane Sandy began as a tropical wave in the Caribbean, it quickly became a Cyclops storm in just 6 hours. Sandy first made landfall in Jamaica, ravaging through it. Sandy hit New Jersey on October 29, with the full moon heightening the tides by 20%. Streets were flooded, power lines were down, and trees were knocked down. 15 states were somewhat affected by the storm. The damage of the storm costed 20 Billion dollars(livescience.com)

    North Korea order missile units to be ready.
    On March 29th, 2013 Kim Jong-Un ordered missiles to be set to target the US and South Korea. This came in a result of tests of practiced bombing exercises with advanced aircraft in South Korea by the United States. The United States and South Korea were not particularly worried about this because North Korea has threatened this many times. This worried Russia and China, and they both called for peace on both sides. North Korea never ended up actually launching missiles at the US. (nytimes.com)
  • Boston Marathon Bombings

    Boston Marathon Bombings
    At the Boston Marathon, two bombs went off towards the finish line. The bombs resulted in 3 deaths and 260 injuries. After 4 days of an intense manhunt, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev were found to have organized the bombing. Tamerlan died in a shootout with the police, and Dzhokhar stood trial in 2014. The two were born in Kyrgyzstan, and but lived in America for about a decade before the bombing happened. Dzhokhar got the death penalty, and is still waiting. (www.history.com)
  • Oso Mudslides

    Oso Mudslides
    In Oso,Washington a massive landslide ripped through killing over 40 people and destroying houses and land.The landslide took a huge chunk of the mountain alongside Highway 530, into the Stillaguamish River.Officials were sent to help people, and they say "We could hear people screaming everywhere."The County official stated that the area is safe, however the landslides date back for about 70 years.The Government is criticized for not doing enough to help the victims.(old.seattletimes.com)
  • Fort Hood shooting

    Fort Hood shooting
    Ivan Lopez opened fire at Fort Hood in Texas, killing 3 people and than himself. The shooter was a former soldier who served in Iraq in said to have had "behavioral health and mental heath" issues. Officials say it started as a soldier one-on-one confortation, but there was no main motive. There was an immediate lockdown after the shooting, being ended at about 9 p.m that night. The security at Fort Hood is often criticized based on the other mass shooting there in 2009. (cnn.com)
  • Ebola Outbreak

    Ebola Outbreak
    On August 24, 2014 the Democratic Republic of the Congo reported an outbreak of ebola. The lady who had it, reported symptoms of Ebola after butchering a bush animal. The outbreak spread to many West African countries including Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and many more. Two cases of Ebola in healthcare workers that were recently in West Africa were reported in the United States. CDC continued sending teams to aid West Africa, and adopted more precautions to prevent more cases. (www.cdc.gov)

    My brother Michael (Mick) was born at holy redeemer hospital. He weighed 9.8 pounds.
  • New House

    I moved from my house in Elkins Park, Cheltenham to my new house in Abington a couple days before freshman year of High School.
  • First Day of High School

    I started my first day of freshman year at Bishop McDevitt Catholic High school, however I felt as if the school wasn't right for me so I am now attending Abington. I plan on graduating from Abington.
  • Cousin

    My cousin, Amelia Rose Katuran was born. She was born at the Abington Hospital. She is my Uncle Bobby's and Aunt Amy's first child.
