  • The Enlightenment

    The enlightenment was a time where cultural, authority and intellectual forces in Western Europe was questioned and there was a lot of talk as there to be a reformation of society and scepticisms. One of the reasons as to why the enlightenment started was apparently because of the thirty year war. The horrible disastrous war, this lasted from 1618 to 1648, this made German writers pen criticise very harshly because of the warfare and nationalism. Authors, such as Hugo Grotius and John Comenius.

    Imperialism is empire building. Imperialism occurs when a state proves to be more powerful than another (this could be specific to people, technological or geographical). In the last third of the 19th century European imperialism saw a massive period of expansion, around the entire world due to its powerful industrialization and organisational efficiency of the nation’s state.

    Bach was perhaps one of the most famous and influential composers of the 1700s. Born in 21 March, in Eisenach He was a German composer who was best known as an organist. He wrote a massive amount of sacred and secular music which ended up influencing many later composers. He was believed to be spectacular.     Benjamin Franklin
    Benjamin Franklin had trouble seeing from a distance and as he aged he had trouble reading as well so he invented bifocals which allowed him to see long distance and up close reading without having to change glasses all the time. Bifocals are glasses that have a long distance lens on the top half and a reading lens or short distance lens on the bottom. Benjamin Franklin was an inventor of necessity not an inventor who intended on changing the world.

    Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Fitzroy, Geelong, Melbourne, Saint Kilda and South Melbourne. By 1908 Richmond and University joined the other teams, however, University pulled out by 1914. This brought the whole idea of having allies so the European system came into play. This was the start of World War one.
