Start- December 13th, 2000 End- December 10th, 2000 This was the presidential election where Bush and Gore ran against each other. The votes papers did not scan and got messed up so they had to hand recount each presidents votes. Bush ended up being given the presidency by the Supreme Court.

During the presidential election in 2000 between Bush and Gore, many of the punch hole ballots in Florida were not correctly punched. This resulted in a partially punched card, sometimes called a ´hanging chad´.

On June 11th of 2001, McVeigh was killed my lethal injection in the U.S. Federal Penitentiary in Indiana. He was the first federal prisoner to be killed by the United States federal government since 1963. The federal government invited the families and loved ones of the people McVeigh killed, to watch him get executed.

On September 11th 2001, 19 Islamic militants hijacked 4 airplanes. Two planes flew into the twin towers of the World Trade Center of New York city, another plane hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C. The fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. People say the fourth plane was headed towards the white house, but the people on that plane attempted to take the plane back from the Islams and failed to succeed.
