    Japan Invades China
    The Japanese invasion of Manchuria began on September 19, 1931.The Japanese were looking to extend their empire and looking for a way to invade China. After invaded China appealed the attack to the League of Nations. Instead of dealing with this the Japanese just left the league.

    The Holocaust

    The Holocaust is generally thought of as the genocide of roughly 6 million Jewish people during World War II. The killings did not happen all at once though, they were planned and time was taken to get to the overall final solution. Jewish people to be removed from the rest of the general population and put into ghettos and then into concentration camps where they would eventaully starve, get disease, and die.
  • Munich Conference

    Munich Conference
    An issue developed in Europe, Hitler was taking over countries and he wanted to also take the Sudetenland. The Munich Conference was called and Hitler met with representatives of the heads of state from France, the United Kingdom, and Italy.An agreement was reached that Hitler could annex the Sudetenland provided he promised not to invade anywhere else
  • Non Aggression Pact

    On August 23, 1939, representatives from Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union met and signed the Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact. This guaranteed that the two countries would not attack each other. By signing this pact, Germany had protected itself from a big war and the Soviet Union was awarded land, that included Poland. The pact was broken when Nazi Germany attacked the Soviet Union less than two years later.

    German forces bombard Poland on land and from the air, as Adolf Hitler seeks to take over more land and ultimately rule Poland. And on September 3, they declared war on Germany, initiating World War II.
  • BlitzCreig

    BlitzCreig
    Blitzkrieg means "lightning war". It was an new military technique first used by the Germans in World War Two and was a tactic based on speed and surprise. It is based around tanks, and lots of bombing from the air.
  • Battle of Britain

    It was a battle between the German Airforce and the United Kingdom. The Battle of Britain was the first major campaign to be fought entirely by air forces, and was also the largest bombing campaign to that date.
  • Lend Lease Act

    A program under which the United States supplied Great Britain, France,China, the USSR and other Allied nations with materiel between 1941 and August 1945. An act that was to promote the defense of the US.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    About four million soldiers of the Axis powers invaded the USSR. The invasion of the USSR casused a high rate of fatalites. Because of the failure of this operation, Hitler`s demand to further invade the USSR was a big failure.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    This was a suprise attack on the US by Imperial Japanese Navy at the US naval base at Pearl Harbor. This attack led to the US going into World War Two. The Japanese bombed the harbor and hit all of our battleships and sunk some of them. The following day we declared war on Japan.
  • Wannsee conference

    A meeting of senior officials of Nazi Germany. In the course of the meeting,it shows how European Jews would be rounded up from west to east and sent to extermination camps in the General Government, where they would be killed.
  • Bataan Death March

    A march of people from Mariveles to San Fernando. Once at San Fernando they were loaded on trains and brought to a camp.
  • Battle of Midway

    The Battle of Midway, fought near the Central Pacific island of Midway, is considered an important battle of the war. The Japanese were on the offensive side and thought this would be a way to continue their streak, until the US Fleet suprised the Japanese and sunk some of their ships and this put the US on the offensive side.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    The Battle of Stalingrad was the successful Soviet defense of the city of Stalingrad.Russians consider it to be the greatest battle of their war. It stopped Germans from advancing and is a turning point in favor of the Allies.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    On June 6, 1944 the Allied Forces of Britain, America, Canada, and France attacked German forces off the coast of Normandy. They had a huge force and the Allies attacked and gained a victory. This was one of the turning point in World War Two.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    The offensive push of Germany was coming to a hault and this was one of the United States biggest pitched battle in their history. The Allies were trying to push the Germans back city by city. Hitler thought his time was running out and he had to do something fast. His plan was to cut the Allied forces in two and then push through.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    It was a major battle in which the United States fought for and captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese. The goal was to capture the whole island. This would then help for the attacks and be an advantage in the war. There were many losses during the battle. This was then view and discussed how valuable this island actually was.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Last and biggest of the Pacific island battles of World War II. There were many forces used in this war and island hopping was happening. The Allies were approaching Japan and planned to use the island for a base of air operations. There were many ships and bombardments in this battle and many lives were lost.
  • V-E Day

    This is known as "Victory in Europe Day" and it is when the Allies of World War two of Nazi Germany surrendered its armed forces. This marked the day of the end of WWII in Europe.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima

    Bombing of Hiroshima
    This was a bombing by the US on Japan. This was the only use of nuclear weapons in war. Japan was destroyed and then annouced the surrender.
  • V-J Day

    This is when Japan surrendered thus ending world war two. We had dropped bombs on Japan and they were the reason the US were brought into war. This was a great day for the US and is remembered as "Victory over Japan Day".
  • Warsaw Pact

    The Warsaw Pact was a collective defense treaty among eight communist states of Europe in existence during the Cold War. It meant to maintain peace in Europe, guided by some views and ideas of the United Nations.
