    Between 1917 and 1918, two very imporatant acts were passed, the Espionage and Sedition Act, These two affected and targeted many people. It affected military operations and recruitment to prevent insubordination in the military and to prevent the support of the U.S. enemies during wartime.These acts were also said to violate the 1st ammendment. They were said to said to because it violated freedom of speech because it retricted many forms of speech. On March 3, 1919, a court case solved this.

    From 1918-1920, there was a serious disease outbreak, this was the Spanish Flu. It was a virus that attacks the respiratory system, and is highly contagious. When the person sneezes, coughs, or talks, respiratory droplets are generated and transmitted into the air, and can be inhaled by anyone close by. It infected about 500 million people and killed about 20-50 million victims.

    On Januray 8, 1918, President Wilson gave a very important speech, called the Fourteen Points. It became the basis for a peace program, suggesting that a League of Nations should be established to guarantee the political and territorial independence of countries. The League of Nations was an international organization, to provide a forum for resolving international disputes.

    Between June 28, 1919-Jan 21, 1920, was when the peace treaties were organized. It was the most important peace treaties that ended World War I. It ended the war between Germany and the Allied Powers. At the end of the war, Germany had to pay to repair all the damage from the war.

    On August 18th, 1920, the 19th ammendment was passed, which gave women the right to vote. During the war, women basically did all the work while the men were fighting in the war. They mostly worked in munitions factories and at the military and navy bases.
