Italy enters the war and invades the southern part of France.

The Tripartite Pact was signed by Italy, Germany, and Japan in Berlin, Germany officially forming the Axis Powers.

Germany and it's allies along with Finland (who joined the Axis to try to recieve compensation for territorial losses in the Winter War) invade the USSR and capture St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kiev, and Rostov by November.

Japan launches it's notorious attack on Peal Harbor trying to cripple the United States from entering the war. The attack wasn't 100% succesful because all the ships were not there, although they were supposed to be.

The United States declares war on Japan. Meanwhile Jpanese troops land in French Indochina, British Singapore, and the Philippines.

Germany and The Axis Declare war on America.

The British bomb Cologne which is the first attack on German soil.

The Axis troops surrender to the Allies in North Africa. The African theatre is now over.

American and British troops invade Sicily. By mid-August the Allies control Italy.

American and British troops succesfully invade the beaches of Normandy in France. In their famous victory over the Axis troops they pose a "second front" to Germany.

Allied forces reach Paris and free French troops. By December all of France, most of Belgium and some of the Netherlands are liberated.

German troops launch a last ditch effort to split the Allied forces and regain Belgium in the Battle of the Bulge. By 1945 the Germans are in retreat.

German leader Adolf Hitler commits suicide by consuming a cyanide capsule and shooting himself in an underground bunker.

Germany surrenders unconditionally to the Allied Powers.

The first and only Nuclear bombs ever to be used were dropped on Nagasaki on August 6th, and three days later on Hiroshima. Japan then surrenders, concluding World War 2.
