The go ahead for a massive invasion of Europe called operation overlord & D-Day George Patton was senior officer of the us army who commanded the us 7th army in the mediterranean & Europe by the end of ww2 when he died he was responsible for the invasion of Europe against Germany he was apart of D-Day.

    Navajo code talkers

    During world war 2 the marine corps used one of the thousands of languages to create an unbreakable code. No other country had American Indians who spoke Navajo. It was an Unwritten language it saved thousand of american lives because nobody could break it.
  • Axis Power

    The reason Germany, Italy and Japan joined together and formed an alliance (axis power AKA Tripartite act) The tripartite act was aimed to keep the U.S. out of war. Under the treaty each axis nation agreed to defend the others in case of an attack.

    Members of the Women's army corps were the first women other than the nurses to serve in the United States army, because the were able to supply additional resources for the military during WW2.

    The purpose was to provide U.S. military aid to foreign nations during the war.
    factories needed more and more workers to build war machines and helped decrease unemployment.
    selling weapons and supplies brought in lots of revenue to help end the great depression. European countries didn't have to pay back debt until after war, and only paid for what the salvaged.

    The day after Roosevelt asked congress to declare war on Japan. a famous quote by FDR "A date which will live in infamy."

    Omar Bradely, 5 star general, commander 2nd corps in Tunisia & campaigns, also instrumental to the success in Normandy campaign, AKA invasion of Normandy.
    George Marshall, chief of staff of the U.S. army, helped plan operation overlord, the allied invasion of Europe, he urged military readiness prier to attack on pearl harbor, 1941. He was also responsible for deploying 8 million soldiers.

  • Volunteerism of WW2

    The high school victory corps program emphasized an entirely supplemental education. They trained them for war. Both male and female were required to enroll in a war effort class.
  • Field Marshall

    Bernard Montgomery commanded the British eighth army in Tunisia in May of 1943. He thought the initial invasion forces should be increased from 3 to 8 divisions. this was essential to succeed on D-Day.
  • Douglas McArthur

    5 Star General, commanded the south west pacific and invaded the island of Leyte in October of 1944 to avenge Americas defeat in the Philippines. He applied his military actions with island hopping to help POW's from the Bataan death march.
  • George Patton

    General George Smith Patton Jr was a senior officer of the U.S. Army who commanded the U.S. seventh army in the Mediteranean & European theaters of ww2 but he was best known for his leadership of the U.S.
    Involved in military career leading eavalry troops against mexican forces & became the 1st officer assigned the new U.S. army tank corps.
  • War Bonds/Rationing

    To raise enormous amounts of money needed to pay for the war, the government issued war bonds to help pay for the war and encouraged citizens to buy them.
    Rationing regulated the amount of goods that a consumer could obtain. It was introduced to avoid public anger over shortages of war. Ration coupons were issued to each family based on their size. Americans were generally happy to help in the war effort in order to bring their loved ones home.
