President Woodrow Wilson sends four diplomatic protests to Germany at the same time. The Lusitania was carrying weapons even though it was a neutral ship. It set off a chain reaction that led to World War 1.

    Britain intercept a telegram from Germany to German embassies and Mexico city about Germany providing tactical support while Mexico would expand to Southwest America that was once Mexico. Britain then gives the message to America and the public which created an outcry including Teddy Roosevelt, who favored American military involvement in the war.

It also created the League of Nations, which the US never joined causing them to miss out on having influence on international decisions.
