  • Declaration Of War

    Germany declared war on Russia and Britian declared war on Germany as an affect. This is what officially started the war.
    • Cause and Affect( The cause was germany declaring war on Russia and the affect was Britian declaring war back on Germany)
    • Historical Significance(Started first world war)
  • Invasion

    Germany invaded France and Belgium which is the first battle of WW1.
    • Continuity and Change(Changed the way society works) -Historical Perspective(From Germany's perspective they were the bad guys)
  • First battle

    The first battle of Ypres started. -Ethical Dimension
    -Historical Significance(It was the first battle that was going to lead to many more battles of Ypres)
  • 2nd Ypres Battle {Major Event}

    The germans fired shells filled with chlorine gas at Allied lines which was the first time gas was used in battle which resulted in a new act of warfare. -Historical Significance(Created a new act of warfare)
    Cause and Consequence(the cause was because the germans couldnt find a good way to fight and the consequence was that they had creatd a new weapon that could be used against them)
  • Submarine

    A german submarine sinks near the passenger line in Lusitania and it carried 1198 people/ -Historical Significance(Water warfare was brought into battle)

  • Anger throughout war

    Germany responds to the United States anger by ceasing to sink ships with no warning. -Historical Significance(Brought the United States into the war)
    -Cause and Consequence(The U.S was throwing out mean comments about what was happening and the germans responded with an act of violence)
  • Taking over

    Tsar Nicholas II takes control over the Russian army -Continuity and change(It changed the way the Russians faught in the war)
    -Cause and Affect(it caused the Russians to replan their attacks and the affect was a better chance of winning war for them)
  • Come Back

    The british used gas in battle near Loos but the wind blew it back towards them cause 60,000 British casualties -Cause and consequence(They thought by doing this it would create more of a distraction to win but it came back to them and created an affect they didnt think would happen)
    - Historical Significance(It made them think about if gas was a good idea to use in warfare)
  • Tanks

    The British employed the first ever Tank used in warfare even though it wasnt that good of an outcome.
    • Historical Significance(It changed the way that people thought of war and brought in a new kind of automobile to use to protect your men) -Continuity and change(It changed the way that humans thought and created a new line of automobiles that can be used in harsh situations)
  • Battle of Verdum {Major Point}

    The battle of Verdum. The french held their line against the Germans until December of the same year making it the longest battle within the war. -Historical Significance(Longest war to remember)
    -Cause and Consequence(Both teams never gave up and showed their determination to fight for their country)
  • New Teams

    Germany resumes the act of submarine warfare in European waterways, this act drew the United States out into war which later caused the defeat of the germans -Cause and consquence(The Germans kept on trying to go bigger to win more but it back fired and they ended up being defeated by the U.S

    The Congress authorizes a declaration of war against Germany. The United States enters WW1 on the side of France, Bitian and Canada. -Historical Significance(It signified all of North America Being involved in the war)
    -Historical Perspective(They had to get as many American soldiers as they could in short time to fight for their country.)

    Russia tries to make peace with the central powerd(USSR withdrawls from war) -Cause and consequence(They made peace with each other and decided not to fight against eachother)

    The Germans and Russia make peace which involves the germans getting more land and makes them shirft towards the western front. -Historical sigificance(Ends the battle between each)
    -Cause and consequence(The cause on being understanding leaded to better for each country)

    The British Royal Airforce is formed -Continuity and change(creats a new act of warfare)
    -Historical significance(Creates a new weapon to use against eachother)
  • Surrendering

    Austrian-Hungarian Empire Surrenders. -His torical significance(SIgnifies the war comingto an end)

  • Coming together

    Wilhem II is overthrown and a German Republic is made -Historical significance(soming together)
    -Cause and consequence(Being nice and overcoming problems can only lead up to good things)
  • Endings

    The central powers get tired of fighting so they sign the armistice that ends world war one. -Historical significance(ends all war)
    Continuity and change(Changs the outlook of later life)
