    Bomb thrown at the Archduke's car, misses, but he is later shot. Believing that the assassin is Serbian, tensions begin to rise between Serbia and the Empire. This is bad for most countries as economies shut down and national panics arise.

    The United States wants to stay out of the European war. Decides how the United States will be involved. (at least at the beginning)
  • The Sinking of the Lusitania

    The Sinking of the Lusitania

    A German U-boat sinks the passenger ship, the Lusitania, killing 1201 people, including 128 Americans. Americans were just killed for a war they are not involved in.
  • Wilson Returns

    President Woodrow Wilson was re-elected, carrying the slogan "He kept us out of war." The Americans were so desperate to stay out of the conflict, they elected their president because of it.

    British intelligence intercepts a telegram sent by Alfred Zimmerman, which said that Mexico should join the war and attack the U.S. in exchange for the land it lost all those years ago. Americans are p!ssed.

    At 5 am, Germans sign the Armistice will be effective at 11 am-pretty much the end of the war, but both sides still lost thousands in those few hours when both wanted the last shot fired.
  • Treaty of Versailles

    German delegates sign the Treaty of Versailles, officially ending the war. German citizens outrage at clauses in the Treaty that claim Germany is the sole reason for the war. The United States can finally start to recover.
