    The Lusitania carrier ship was torpedoed and sunk by the submerged German submarine.
    The Lusitania is the reason why the United States joined the Allies side of the war.

    Germany sent a coded message (telegraph) to Mexico but British intercepted it and decoded it. British leaked it to the United States.
    The Zimmerman Note helped change the public opinion of Americans and brought the United States into WW1.

    The Spanish Flu had normal symptoms like fever, nausea, aches, and diarrhea. Many people developed severe pneumonia attacks and had dark spots on their cheeks. Some patients turned blue from lack of air. Also their lungs filled with frothy, bloody substance.
    During that time about one-third of the planet's population died. That's about 20 million to 50 million victims that were killed.

    They violated the 1st amendment by making it illegal to give 'bad press' to public officials. It basically denied freedom of speech to people.
    Schenck v. US court case is a US supreme court case concerning enforcement of the Espionage Act of 1917 during WW1. The court decided it supported Schenck.

    The Treaty of Versailles ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers.
    Germany had to pay to repair all the damage of the war. In US dollars about $33 billion dollars.

    The 19th amendment prohibits any United States citizen from being denied the right to vote on the basis of sex. Gave women the right to vote.
    While men left for war, women were given jobs that men usually had. New jobs were created as part of the war effort. One example of a new job is munition factories.
