Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia for the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. One month to the day of the assassination Austria-Hungary had Germany's loyalty. By August Germany declared war on Russia for not stopping mobilization.

Quincy arrived in Paris on the 4th of January. He couldn't get a taxi at first. When he got to his destination he took a bath.

The U.S. entered WW1 as a result of 128 Americans killed on a British ship torpedoed by Germans. Two days later the U.S. declared war on Germany. 2.8 million were drafted.

Quincy boarded the USS Pocahauntes. He recounted men singing into the night. He also said the ship smelled but one would get used to it.

Quincy arrived at the front on January 4th. He missed his 7:00 train. He caught a 10:00 train and arrived at 5:30.

Armistice was signed on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918. It has very harsh toward Germany. The fighting was over after this.
