Shah Jahan (King of the World) was born apart of the mongol empire. As a child he was a favorite of his grandfather.

He fell in love with Arjumand Banu Bejum in his early teens and married her five years later. From that moment on they became inseparable, even on military ventures. When she died after giving birth to their 14th child, Shah Jahan started building the Taj Mahal.

He was considered to be the greatest mughal empire leader in history. They called his reign the golden age of the mughals, and one of the most prosperous ages in the indian civilization.

The Taj Mahal was built as a tomb for his wife. Known as the "crown of palaces." It is the jewel of muslim art in india and one of the most universally admired masterpieces. Shah Jahan also had many other structures such as the Mumtaz Mahal, Pearl Mosque, and Red Fort Palace.

When he shifted the capitol to New Delhi, they expanded onto these banks. This is also when he built the Red Fort Palace. This was called the "new city" and was located very close to New Delhi.

This took 10 years to finish, while moving the capitol he started to build the Red Fort Palace. Shahjahanabad was the complicated name for "old delhi." One of the reasons they moved the capitol is because it was a city, "deep with history, rich in culture, adorned with splendid ancient and modern architectural marvels, and brimming with human diversity."

The taj mahal was finished after many years of hard work. It was an extremely detailed structure. It is the finest piece of work done by mughal architrcture and It involves Persian, Turkish, and Indian architectural styles incorporated into it.

Son imprisoned him because he did not want to wait to be the leader. This was not the first time this happend. Other cases consist of killing brothers just to become leader.

He was succeeded by his son when he fell extremely sick. His son was known as Aurangaeb Emperor and was leader until his fathers death in 1666. He was kept in the Red Fort Palace.

Shah Jahan died when he was 74 years of age. He became very ill and was succeeded by his son. He was sick for almost 10 years before he passed.
