    World War Two

    World War Two began with the invasion of Czechoslovakia by Hitler in September, this act of force caused Britain and France to declare war on Germany. America was neutral until the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 by the Japanese. Once the U.S. declared war on Japan, Germany declared war on the U.S.. The war in Europe ended May 7, 1945, but the war with Japan did not end until August 14, 1945, after the U.S. bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
  • G.I. Bill

    This bill was passed in an effort to help the returning soldiers adjust to civilian life again. This bill helped them get jobs, finish college, buy houses, most white males received benefits of this bill, while women and black males were excluded or ignored.

    D-Day was the allied attack on axis occupied France. The attack was planned months in advance, the main countries involved being Canada, the UK and the US. This attack was the largest amphibious invasion in history.

Major events such as the Berlin wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis and multiple oil crisis's occurred during this time period.

    Korean War

    Soviets dominated the North section of Korea, while the US was helping in the South. When the Soviets crossed the 38th parallel in June of 1950, they did not expect the US to do anything, but America sent over troops to push the communists back across the 38th. The war lasted three years with little success, but an Armistice was signed in July of 1953, that divided Korea in two down the 38th parallel.

    After the Atomic bomb was created during WW2, the US decided to start work on a stronger more dangerous bomb that used Hydrogen.
