  • Treaty of Versailles (political event)

    This was one of the peace treaties at the end of World War I. It ended the state of war between Germany and the Allied Powers. It was signed on 28 June 1919, exactly five years after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
  • League of Nations (social event)

    This was an internation organization, which was headquarted in Switzerland. It was created to resolve all the probelems throuhgout WWl, propsed by Woodrow Wilson.
  • Womens Sufferage ratified (political event)

    This gave the women the right to vote. This was a very imporatn phase for the women and the period of faminism.
  • Enigma Machine (technology)

    This was created to crack the secret codes between nations, this helped us defeat Hitler in the war along with finding out what the other nations were up to.
  • The Beer Hall Putsch (military event)

    Adolf Hitler marched over two thousand men to seize power in Munich, Bavaria. This attempt failed and Hitler was charged with treason and senteced for five years in jail. He only served nine months and was released. This first attempt made Hitler become known and the first form of Nazi propaganda.

    This initiated a time of Great Depression, which lowered income by 30% and 20% of the state's population was out of work.

    He seized every opportunity to turn Germany into a one-party dictatorship. From this, Hitler had the power he could want, while others had only limited power.

    Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the 1937 Neutrality Act, which bans travel on belligerent ships, forbids the arming of American merchant ships trading, and issues an arms embargo with warring nations.

    The Ohio River in Illinos flooded, which left thousands homeless.This occured during the Great Depression, putting a strain on the government trying to fix up the homes while trying to regain the econmy.

    Mussoloni said a speech in Rome, declaring that whenever Hitler's army fights their enemies, they will be fighting along thei r side.
  • Naval Expansion Act (political event)

    The U.S. Congress passed the Naval Expasnsion Act. This allowed President Roosevelt one billion dollars to expand the navy.
  • Congress Lifts Aid Embargo (political event)

    Congress gave President Roosevelt the ability to revise neutrality laws, to repeal an arms embargo so that munitions could be sold to Britain and France, and to prevent American ships from sailing into war zones.
  • Roosevelt Increases Defense Spending (social event)

    President Franklin D. Roosevelt requests new defense spending, an enlarged army. From this, our funding for defense grew, giving more abilty and weapons to our soilders.

    United States Naval Intelligence cryptographers crack Japan's secret communications code and learn that Japan wanted to defeat China.

    The japenese attacked the United States, Pearl Harbor, in result of the US not selling them oil anymore. Since the US was attacked, they had a reason to enter WWl.

    The United States entered WWll, due to the bombing on Pearl Harbor. This initiative made is possible for the US to have a good reason to finally enter the war.

    the Normandy invasion was in a more important region, setting the stage to drive the Germans from France.

    Bennito, the ruler of the nationalist fascist party, ruling the country of Italy as Prime Minister until his death in 1943.

    This bomb was created in New Mexico. On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. This was the first powerful nuclear weapon the world has come to know and the effects are very devastating to other nations.

    This was the first meeting of the UN, this replaced the League of Nations after WWll.
