  • Munich Conference

    Hitler wants to build up Germany quietly so he asks for the part of Czechoslovakia that only speaks German. Neville Chamberlain who was the Prime Minister of England allowed Hitler to take the part of Czechoslovakia
  • German Occupation of the Sudetenland (Lebensraum)

    Hitler orders attacks on Poland by sending his troops over and bombing Poland. Britain and France started noticing that this could be bad and this is how World War II ended up starting.
  • Pact of Steel

    Hitler and Mussolini make their alliance official. Mussolini called this the Pact of Steel and this guaranteed that Italy would be fighting on the side of Germany.
  • Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact

    Germany signed the Non-Aggression Pact with Russia meaning that they would not fight each other for at least the next ten years because of everything that would be happening because of WWII. This made Russia feel safe.
  • “Cash and Carry”

    Any European country that wanted goods from the United States had to pay in advance. A while later President Franklin D. Roosevelt stated that all American waters were neutral and any hostile ships in American waters would be an act of hostility against the United States.

    Phoney War

    The time in between when Germany invaded Poland and the time that World War II started. Nothing happened during this time and neither the Allies or the Germans did anything to advance the war.

    Blitzkrieg

    Blitzkrieg means lightning war in German this was a plan used by Germany to confuse their enemies by disorganizing their military and concentrating firepower of certain areas.
  • “Destroyers for Bases”

    United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a deal with Britain that the United States would give Britain Destroyers (warships) in exchange for Britain giving some of their land to America for military bases.
  • “Lend Lease”

    This was a program made by Franklin D. Roosevelt that was used to send the Allies supplies and money in World War II. This made Britain feel like they were no longer alone and they had America to back them up against Hitler.
  • Japanese Attack Pearl Harbor

    The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii by bombing American ships and and naval bases. United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt wanted to declare war against Japan and because Japan had become allies with Germany and Italy, this is how America became part of World War II.
