World War II

  • Shoah

    This is more commonly known as the Holocaust. Jewish people believe the term Holocaust to be offensive because it's definition is a sacrificial offering. They believe in no way that this even was an offering so they call it Shoah. It was believed to began in 1933 and ended in 1945.
  • First Concentration Camps

    First concentration camps connected to the Shoah.
  • Theater of War

    This is land, air and sea area that is involved or may become involved in the war operations or battle. This date was the beginning of WWII, and it started when Germany first invaded Poland in 1939.
  • Pearl Harbor

    This is when the Japanese made a surprise attack on the islands of Hawaii. They attacked the naval base called Pearl Harbor by shooting with planes and dropping bombs. This entrigued the United States into joining WWII
  • Internment

    This is when Japanese people began to be captured and put into interment camps in the United States. They did this because of what the Japanese did to Pearl Harbor.
  • Battle of Midway

    The Battle of Midway occurred in the Pacific Theater.
  • Operation torch

    Allied forces won and were able to send troops into Italy. It made Germany send troops to Italy making Operation Overlord an easy success.
  • Blitzkreig

    Blitzkreig is a term for fast military attack. During World War II it pushed the Brittish and the French back and resulted in a devastation of the Russian army.
  • Battle Of Iwo Jima

    This even also occurred in the Pacific Theater and it was costly to both sides.
  • Operation Overlord

    This was the codename or the battle of Normandy where United States troops and battleships attacked on the beaches of Normandy. This was a major turning point in World War II because it forced the Germans to fight on two fronts.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Germany sent troops to the bulge in the European Theaterto try and push the Allied forces back. This was not a success and Germany was for sure going to lose the war now.
  • Germany Surrendered

    This allowed the Allies to focus their military on the Pacific Theater.
  • Fat Man and Little Boy

    These were the two atomic bombs that were dropped on the Japanese in result of their invasion of Pearl Harbor. These bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and devastated these cities and left thousands of Japanese people dead.
  • United Nations (UN)

    This was created after World War II to prevent another World War. This was created to try and keep peace among nations and unite as one.
  • Nuremburg Trials

    This was a series of trials of German Nazi's being tried for the murder of thousands of people. Many people were sentenced to over 10 years in jail and some Nazi's were sentenced to be executed.
  • Zionism

    Zionism began in 1906. This was the movement of Jews seeking a homeland in Palestine. After World War II ended, the Jews that survived normally had nowhere to go because their homes were given away. So the people who were evicted wanted a place to go and they wanted it to be Paletsine.
