    The Beginning
    World War I begins. Germany decides to first invade France because they believe that they would be weak and easy to capture.

    Trench warfare was dominating in the Western Front. Trench warfare was a system in which parallel rows of trenches were dug out by soldiers. The soldiers lived and fought from the trenches. Life in the trenches was extremely unhygienic and led to many deaths in World War I.
  • Industrialism Rises

                            Industrialism Rises
    At the beginning of the war, there was an increase of steel ingot and total industrial production rates due to the demand of it for the war. This created many jobs for the men who stayed behind. And the United States sold the steel to Britain and France because they needed it during the war.

                        Introducing Zeppelins. (Intellectual)
    The first Zeppelin raid took place in Britain. A Zeppelin or blimp was used by the Germans during the beginning of World War I. The Zeppelin carried bombs and machine guns and flew high above the reach of fighters and could approach their enemies’ silently. They were soon left behind because they were easily shot out of the sky. The Zeppelin, though abandoned in World War I after about three months, it was improved then used by the U.S. army.

    At the beginning of the war, the stock market was not affected for the first month. But afterwards it started decreasing dramatically. Especially when the U.S. entered the war. The stock market did not return to its original state at the end of the war.
  • Introducing: Tanks

                              Introducing: Tanks
    Tanks were used for the first time. Tanks were first used by Britain and possessed two machine guns. One of the most important factors that made the tank so successful was that it was immune to fires from small fire arms. Many other countries picked up tanks during World War I and the production of tanks in the countries involved increased greatly.

    The Selective Service Act is initiated by the United States, creating the draft. Meanwhile, Russian revolutions are occuring and the U.S.S.R is formed.
  • Enter, USA.

                       Enter, USA.
    The United States declare war against Germany and enters the conflict in Europe. The United States sends over two million troops into Europe, specifically Germany.
  • The 92nd and 93rd

                       The 92nd and 93rd
    The United States Military creates the 92nd and 93rd Divisions which became the first primarily African American Divisions in the Military. These divisions included over 1200 African American males who volunteered to serve. However, they were still not considered equal to white males with the same rank in the military.

                       Food Distribution
    Due to the expenses of the war, President Hoover was appointed to help reduce the cost of many common foods. And try to keep the distribution of food to all Americans equal. Although this would eventually increase the price after the war.
  • Women In Male Jobs?!

                               Women In Male Jobs?!
    Women employment in predominantly male jobs reaches an all-time high at 37% as a result of World War One. This is an increase from two years before when the percentage was 24%. The war had taken men who were used to doing these jobs and sent them overseas to fight. The women stepped in to fill their spots, thus resulting in such a high employment rate for women with male occupations.

                      The End
    1st World War ends. At the 11th hour on the 11th day on the 11th month the Great War ended, leaving 9 million soldiers dead.
  • The 19th

                       The 19th
    The 19th amendment of the United States Constitution, known as the Susan B. Anthony Amendment if ratified by all 48 states giving women the right to vote. This was the first time that women could vote in every state (Washington, California, Oregon, Arizona, Kansas, New York, South Dakota, and Oklahoma all granted full women’s suffrage previously).
