    Austrians bombard Serbian Capital of Belgrade and this did not settle well with Serbia.

  • Archduke Franz Ferdinand assasinated

    It was the spark that started WW1.

  • World War 1 Begins

    Germany invaded Belgium which then started the war.

  • U.S. is neutral

    U.S. president announces the U.S. will remain neutral and stay out of conflicts.

  • Battle of Ypres

    Allied and German forces began the frst of three battles for the city of Ypres and its beneficial positions in the North Coast of Belgium.

  • Turkey enters the War

    Turkey enttered the war on the side of the Central Powers. Turkey came in and helped German naval bombardment of Russia.

  • ANZAC's Appear

    Australian and New Zealand troops show up for first time in the war with limited training. Mistakes by Winston Churchill forced the ANZAC troops to land in the wrong location and get shot by Turkish soldiers.

  • Lusitania sinks

    A German submarine sinks the Passenger liner Lusitania. The ship carried 1,198 people including 128 Americans.

  • First Tanks in battle

    The British employ the first tanks ever used in battle. Although they are strong and ram through objects, they are not what their inventers sought after.

    The Battle of Somme was the British and French fighting the Germans. There were more than 1 million casualties in this battle.

    Congress declares war on Germany. The US enters the war on the side of France and Britain.

    This authorized the draft in US. President Wilson claimed he saw no other option

  • Bolsheviks

    The Bolsheviks overthrew the Russian government during the Russian Revolution

    President Wilson introduces Fourteen Points and it became the basis for a peace program.

  • Germany and Russia sign Treaty

    The treaty gave Germany huge pieces of land from Ukraine and Poland and allowed them to focus on the Western front.

  • Battle of Bellau Wood

    The US marines attacked the Germans across an open field of wheat, with huge casualties.

  • Turkey's End

    Turkey stops fighting ending their part in the war.

  • Gerneral leaves Germany

    Kaiser WIlhem II abdicates and flees Germany destroying any hope of winning the war they had.

  • Armistace

    An Armistace is signed ending fighting on the Western front.

  • Treaty of Versailles

    The Treaty of Versaille officiallly ended WW1.
