    • Blizzard Entertainment announces their ideas for a new game that is similar to both Runescape and Warcraft. It has improved graphics many new opportunities for game players.
    • This is the date for when the ideas of World of Warcraft became reality. WoW grew to be one of the most popular MMORPG's (massibely multiplayer online role playing game) of all time.

    • Beta testing began, which allowed for players to test the game and suggest changes or advice to game developers.
    • The level cap was changed from 40 in beta to 60 for the final game release date.

    • Finally, the game is released.
    • WoW has a level cap of 60 and there are only two countries, which are, Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor.
    • There are 8 races to begin the game: Horde = Orc, Troll, Undead and Tauren; Alliance = Human, Dwarf, Night Elf and Gnome.
    • There are 9 classes to choose from: Druid, Hunter, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Warlock, Warrior, Paladin and Shaman.

    • WoWWiki is a website that is used to help game players with quests, questions, comments, concerns, and many other helpful features for during game play.

    • Patch 1.2.0 is the first patch that was launched since the game was released.
    • The patch added holiday quests for players to celebrate the holidays online.

    - Wowhead holds items, quests, talents and much more.
    - Wowhead makes players able to post their experiences and coordinates for completing quests and other game feature to help other players when they do them.

    • Level cap is changed to 70
    • New continents are added (Outlands) for more exploration for players
    • Two new races are added (Draenei and Blood Elf)

  • Realm Changes

    • Several changes are added to the game to prepare for the next expansion. Game developers were required to change the routes of boats, add new zones, and change the original raids to make game players happy.

    • Dealth Knights are added as a new class

    • Mountain Dew features WoW by having the community choose their faction by choosing what flavor Mountain Dew they drink.
    • This was great publicity for the game.

  • Battlenet

    • WoW announces that accounts will be changed to Battlenet.
    • Battlenet allows players to add each others e-mails as friends, rather than just game names, to allow players to interact with eachother even if they are on a different server or are part of a separate faction.
    • However, players commented on the forums stating that they did not want their battlenet ID to be on the forums. They only wanted their real ID names to be in-game.

    • Two new races are added (Worgen and Goblin)

    • Blizzard teams up with Paypal to make it difficult for gold farmers to sell their gold.
    • The trade channel in WoW is always being spammed with gold farmers and this was a great attempt to try to stop them. However, the gold farmers still continued.

    • Level cap is changed to 90
    • The new continent Pandaria is added.
    • New race added (Pandaren)
    • New class added (Monk)

    • This event lasted from Nov. 21 - Jan. 5 2015
    • WoW has evolved over a series of evolutionary steps over the years.
    • The game has changed to make it more accessable to all different types of players depending on their interest. WoW now offers something for everyone.
    • Along the way, the large number of updates kept players exposed to something new to keep them involved and excited about the game.
