    Magna Carta

    The Magna Carta was created to make peace between the king and the people that he ruled over. The Magna Carta lasted for over 800 years and inspired future governments to follow what the Magna Carta enforces.
  • The English Bill of Rights

    The Bill creates separation of powers, limits the powers of the king and queen, enhances the democratic election and bolsters freedom of speech.
  • The French Delcaration of Rights of Man and Citizen

    The last article of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen was adopted on 26 August 1789 by the National Constituent Assembly, during the period of the French Revolution, as the first step toward writing a constitution for France.
  • The U.S. Bill of Rights

    U.S. Bill of Rights. On September 25, 1789, Congress transmitted to the state Legislatures twelve proposed amendments to the Constitution. Numbers three through twelve were adopted by the states to become the United States (U.S.) Bill of Rights, effective December 15, 1791.
  • The American Declaration of Independence

    On July 4, 1776, Congress approved the final text of the Declaration. It wasn't signed until August 2, 1776.
