The proclamation made it so that the western lands were reserved for Native Americans. This was King George III hoping that it would end the wars between the colonists and the Native Americans. He ordered that anyone in the western lands had to leave immediately. He ordered anyone who had plans to settle there to settle somewhere else. The colonists did not like listening to the new laws being made.

The Quartering Act was meant to help fund to improve housing options for troops. The Act forced colonists to provide housing, food, and many other supplies to well over 9000 British soldiers. The colonists did not believe that the soldiers were protecting the land that they had won in the French and Indian War.

The Townsend Act taxed goods imported to the American colonies. They placed specific taxes on lead, glass, paint, and tea. The colonists thought that this was an abuse of power. The colonists started to boycott the products that needed taxes. They also tarred the British tax collecters.

They started to put a tax on the tea that was being imported. The colonists were already mad about the other taxes because they felt taxation without representation was unfair and a violation of their rights. The colonists started to smuggle tea and boycotting the company so that they didn't have to pay the tax. One evening members of the Sons Of Liberty got on the ships filled with tea and dumped 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor.

The colonists didn't like that King George III sent his troops to Boston. The king claimed it was to protect the British land they had in the French and Indian War. The colonists felt like it was a lie and the troops were watching them. One evening they decided to protest them, and it ended it the British soldiers firing shots at them.

The Tea Act allowed the British East India Tea Company to sell teas in colonies for a low price. The colonists' merchants could not compete with the low prices. The colonists still had to pay taxes on tea but it was reduced.

The Intolerable Act is a law King George III enforced after the Boston Tea Party. King George III kept the law until all of the money from the tea that was dumped was back. It closed the port between Bostons port and Englands port. There was no good that was aloud to travel into England until the money was returned.

The colonists did not like that they were being taxed without representation. The representatives of other colonies except for Georga met together in Pennsylvania to talk about the next change. They decided they were going to cut off trade with the British altogether. They also decided that nobody could take away the natural rights of the people even the British government.

They decided at the first meeting that if nothing had changed they would meet again, they were completely ignored by the Parliament. They had already previously discussed breaking away from England to become independent. They sent King George III a peace treaty in hopes of stopping the feuds. This meeting really helped reunite the 13 colonies.

The day before the battle, Paul Revere and William Dawes rode out to warn them of the approaching British attack. When the British soldiers finally arrived they killed 8 patriots. As the British went back to Boston they were shot at by the minutemen hiding in the trees, behind stone walls, barns, and houses. This was the start of a long War between England and it's colonies.

The battle of Bunker Hill was the first major battle of the Revolutionary War. The hill could be hit with cannons shot from the city. Three different attacks took place, during the first two Colonel William Prescott and Colonel Malitia held the British troops. During the third attack, they ran out of ammunition and needed to retreat back. The British lost more men than the other colonists did.

The olive branch has always meant peace since ancient times. The petition told King George III about their hopes to solve their problems in a peaceful way instead of waging war on each other. The British King ignored the Olive Branch Petition.

This was encampment grounds in Pennsylvania. The site was defensible they had lead trading routes and access to farmland. The American army was suffering, they had a lack of clothes, semi-starvation from not getting enough food, congressional neglect, and public criticism. The army was reorganized and by the next June, they were well-disciplined and efficient.

Thomas Paine wrote a famous pamphlet called Common Sense. In the pamphlet, Thomas Paine attacks King George III for his abuse of power and cruel and unusual treatment of the other colonists. Thomas Paine hated the idea of one person having authority over everything. The new British commander had orders to follow a defensive strategy, he abandoned Philadelphia and moved his troops north. George Washington ordered Charles Lee to make an attack on the British. Washington arrived to see Lee's men fleeting because Charles was late to tell Washington about how he retreated his troops. The Americans won.

Even though the fighting was still going on, they wanted to solve the feud that was going on in England. They wanted to be independent from the British. They knew they could potentially be hung for treason if King George found them. Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams were the ones who wrote the Declaration of Independence.

Howe sent his troops in hopes of capturing and obtaining New York and gaining control over the Hudson River. British overtook New York City. Americans lost over 1000 men when the British lost under 400. General Washington retreated back to Manhattan by boat.

George Washington wanted to defeat and capture Trenton and defeat the German soldiers sent by King George III. Not all of George Washington's troops were able to cross the river due to the large chunks of ice that made traveling by boat more difficult. The battle was in New York, this was the battle that started the turning point of the war. After this battle, France sent troops to help the Continental Army defeat the British. The French became allies because they wanted the same thing as the continental army. They started to fight together for the fights towards independence.

This was the last major battle in the Revolutionary War. General Washington and the Continental Army defeated the British troops because France sent troops over to help. The French had control over the Chesapeake Bay, and because they controlled the waterway the British navy could not get the supplies they needed or the extra soldiers they tried to send. General Cornwallis surrendered on October 19, 1781

The battle of Yorktown did not end the Revolutionary War, the war officially ended when the Treaty Of Paris was signed. Benjamin Franklin was sent to France to talk about the American terms for ending the war for good. It took over a year of negotiations before they could finally come to an agreement.
