First Windmill Ever Used
The first wind mill that was ever used was in 600-900 CE, used by the perisans and in the 1200 by the chinese. They were used to grind up grains and to pump water. I think this is important because this were they got the idea of windmills. -
1st wind mill used to generate electricity
the 1st wind mill used to generate electricity was made in 1888, Invented by Charles F Brush. It was made in Cleveland Ohio.
The wind mill had 144 rotor blades, a turbine whitch has 17 meter diameter and generated 12 kilowatts of power. This wind turbine did not become widly poulaur. I think this is important because it was the first windmill to generate electricity. -
First vertical axis turbine
The first vertical axis,( the white thing that comes out the ground) was invented by french man George Darrius. George Darrius named the turbine the Darrius turbine. This is the type of windmill is called the egg beater. I think this is important because this is the type of windmill we use. -
First factory that made batteries
In Minneapollis USA, they made the first factory that made wind turbine batteries. The factory was made by Joe and Marcellous Jacobs. I think this is important becase if this didnt happen it would take alot more time to make all the batteries hand made. -

in 1957 the gedser turbine was built in Denmark. The Gedser engine is the first modern turbine. I think this is important because this is the first modern engine. -

England also has its own fictional character associated with windmills. Puppet Windy Miller was one of the ‘stars’ of 1960s British television series Camberwick Green – a show which featured the daily goings-on in the fictional village of Camberwick.

The world's first windfarm consisting of 20 turbines is built in New Hampshire in the year 1980. The windfarm however, is a failure as the turbines break down and the developers overestimate the wind resource. This is important because this is the first windfarm ever made. The first offshore windfarm is created in Vindeby, in the southern part of Denmark. The windfarm consists of 11 450kW turbines. -

The UK's first offshore windfarm is opened. North Hoyle offshore windfarm is located 7-8km off the north Wales coast between Prestatyn and Rhyl and consists of 30 2mW turbines. This is important because UK uses a lot of wind energy. -
