The Energy Detectives, or TEDS, were installed in four New Berlin homes. A TED is a home electricity monitor that provides real time feedback on a home’s electricity usage. TEDs provide instantaneous information about electricity use so that you can take steps to save. Research indicates a link between energy awareness and savings.

New Berlin resident, Michael Palermo installed a solar hot water system in August of 2011. Michael and his family have worked to conserve their energy consumption, which allows their new solar hot water system to save them an estimated 300 gallons of heating oil per year and 90% of their domestic hot water demand.

QCast Aluminum has made the decision to invest $36,800 in energy conservation measures recommended to them through their comprehensive energy assessment. This investment is projected to reduce their electricity consumption by 76,000 kWh per year. QCast's first-year electricity cost savings will be $7,000, with additional annual savings as electricity cost increases over time.
