Ancient Perisan Windtowers
The Persian windtower is an architectual element that was used in many different towns and cities, keeping homes at a consistent comfortable temperature. Living in the desert, there are many different temperatures throughout the day. The wind tower served as an innovative, energy saving, cooling system. Wind towers, first used in Persia, are being used to grind grain and pump water from mills. -
The Dutch make mulit-purpose windmills
The Dutch created a multipurpose to serve most needs, and made jobs easier for their citizens. The multipurpose windmills ground grain, pumped water, extracted oils from seeds, produced paper, and cut timber. -

In 1767, Horace de Saussure, a Swiss physicist, invented the solar oven. The solar oven uses suinlight to cook meals and drinks. Also, the solar oven is efficient for the environemnt because it relies on sunlight as power and no fuel is needed. -

Scottish scientist James Clerk Maxwell discovered the selenium solar cell. Maxwell also discovered that the selenium solar cell made a more efficient solar cell. Using the selenium solar cell made a faster electricity flow, which remain consistent. James Clerk Maxwell said the selenium cell "increases according to the intensity or light." -

On September 30th, the first commerical hydroelectric plant began operation on the Fox River. the hydroelectric plant was placed on Fox River because hydroelectricity means “production of power through the use of the gravitational force of falling or flowing water.” -

Charles Fritts was able to create a solar cell that converted the sun rays to energy by coating semicondutor with selenium, with a thin layer of gold. This relates with The first selenium solar cell. -
