i amuse, the reason why is because the Mexicans had known how great the army was, and was not ready to go up against Spain, and spans dictatorship probably had some pretty strict rules.

we think they could've used torture as a threaten, taken away privileges, as in food, water, or places to sleep. they also could have just scared the Mexicans through the raid, and then the Aztecs would not want to fight them because they (At 1st) consider Spain as a formidable enemy
