He leaves from Germany where he has worked as a Blacksmith his entire life, to go to the US because 1) he was fearing that the attacks on germany from other countries might never stop 2) he was paid very little by the owner of the blacksith's shop 3) he suspected that his parents might have actually been american, he never got to find out, since he was left at the doorway of the same blacksmith shop where he worked for the majority of the beginning of his life.
-
on the way there, it was very cold and many people were sick , also Robert was occasionally discriminated for being a German and having a strong accent/
-
After a long and hard journey, Robert Pickleman finds himself in a land with a very long and hard immigration/acception/reception place. after getting his eyelids turned inside-out, he finally gets out of there
-
After passing the Ellis Island acception, Robert finds a cheap (and frankly terrible) place to stay. After finding an anthill in his bed, he makes a point of finding a job so that he can afford a place to stay that did not reek of dead maggots.
-
after trying to find a job that doesn't suck, (and miserably failing) he returns back to what he did before he left Germany- Blacksmithship
He Got hired by an old man who is old and ugly and very old. The man also gives him very little pay, so Robert is saving up so he could migrate to the western part of america -
During this time, Robert worked for the old, ugly Blacksmith harder than ever, and when work was done, he would run errands for miniscule amounts of money, but as the don't say in Germany: ein Pfennig verdient ist ein Pfennig nicht verschwendet (a penny earned is a penny not wasted)
-
After hearing about the many wonders (and lies) about the western area of the US He makes a goal of moving there, Those goals are amplified in intensity due to the fact that the old and ugly blacksmith gave him very little pay,
-
By problem, i mean twisted ankle.
after already packing all his belongings, Robert trips on a homeless man and swists his ankle, that causeses him to have to delay his departure west by three days -
After preparing for over a year, and healing his sprained ankle, he finally buys everything he needs to be able to travel west. Later that day he readies his wagon and mules and salted bacon and begins his trip
-
This three- month trip went surprisingly well, aside from that one time he accidentally stubbed his toe on a suspiciously evil-looking rock
-
After a couple months of traveling, Robert finds himself in a small town, somewhere in the state of Tenesee, where he (yet again) works as a blacksith, except this time, he owns the shop
