    Spanish Immigration

    Spanish establish settlement of Saint Augustine. Which is now known as present day Florida.
  • Spanish Immigration

    Spanish settle in to what is now known as Texas and New Mexico.
  • British Immigration

    English immigration became set when the settlement of Jamestown.
  • African Immigration 1619

    The first African slaves arrive in Jamestown, Virginia.
  • French Immigration

    French immigrantion rates rose in the 1800s.
    The prominence of French immigrants first came about in 1685 along the Gulf of Mexico and the Mississippi River.
  • 1780's

    The phrase “melting pot” has been used since the 1780s, but entered into common usage because of a celebrated Broadway play.
  • Chinese Immigration

    Chinese immigration was dated for the 18th century because of the California Gold Rush, but they say it may have been a little earlier
  • Irish Immigration

    Irish immigration due to the mass potato rot.
  • Middle Eastern Immigrants

    Middle Eastern immigrants come from many different countries. In the late 1800s, Middle Eastern immigrants began to settle in the U.S. in great numbers and in the last 40 years their numbers have shown significant growth.
  • Mexican Immigration

    The Mexican Revolution lead to thousands of Mexicans moving to the United States. Within 20 years nearly one million Mexicans entered the U.S.
