Russian Revolution
The Russian revolution of 1905 was sparked by a peaceful protest in January 1905 led by a Russian Orthodox Priest as the people of Russia wanted better living standards.
The tsar Nicholas II used force against the opposition throughout.
The October Manifesto brought rewards to the protestors of the revolution with Nicholas II gaining power throughout. -

World War I
The Great War.
Lasted 4 years and ended on the 11th Day of the 11th Month in 1918.
Fighting took place in trenches across Europe with the U.S.A remaining neutral until the latter stages of the War.
The Allies were victorious. -

Irish War of Independence
This consisted of guerrilla conflict between the British state and its forces in Ireland and Irish republican guerrillas in the Irish Volunteers or Irish Republican Army in Irelands search for recogination as a free state.
It featured the contested Home rule which split opinions in the conuntry at the time.
The Anglo Irish Treaty was signed in December 1921 which saw a trouse reached and an end to the War. -

World War 2
• Lasted 6 years.
• Allies won in the end.
• Adolf Hitler played a major part in causing the war and he along with his political party the Nazis caused a great deal of trouble and killed thousands of people.
• Thousands of Jews lost their life during WW2 as Hitler had a hatred of the Jews and put them in concentration camps where they were killed in gas chambers or died from disease or starvation. -

Spanish Civil War
In the Spanish Elections of 1936 the left wing won with a clear majority, which prompted opposition from right wing politics.
Hence they decided to overthrow the government.
The rebels were provoked by the Nationalists, leaving the nationalists to be easily defeated in cities protected by the civil gaurd.
The Spanish Civil War is sometimes referred to as the dress rehersal for World War II.
The war ended with destruction and demolishin across Spain with the Republican's defeated by Nationlists. -

Vietnam War
The Vietnam War was a successful attempt by the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the National Front for the Liberation of Vietnam to impose a communist system as prior to this the country was segregateed into parts.
The war ended with a peace accord being signed in Paris. -

Soviet War on Afghanistan
• Also known as The Cold War.
• The Soviet Union used to give a lot of support to its neighbour Afghanistan. However it then tried to take it over and that is what led to the war.
• Soviets struggled throughout the course of the war and eventually departed Afghanistan in February 1989. -

The Gulf War
• Fought in 1991.
• The leader of Iraq ordered the invasion of neighbouring countries.
• These countries called on The United States to intervene. -
Bosnian War March 1st 1992-December 14th 1995
• After WW2, the Balkan states of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia and Macedonia became part of the Federal People’s Republic of Yugoslavia.
• Muslims made up the biggest part of the population.
• People from Bosnia and Croatia wanted independence from Yugoslavia. The Serbs disagreed and a war followed.
