First Investment

Buffett made his first investment at the age of 11 buying three shares of Cities Service Preferred at $38 per share. He later sold them at $40 per share.

First Business

By the age of 13, Buffett was running his own businesses as a paperboy and selling his own horseracing tip sheet.

College Education

At the age of 16, Buffett enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania to study business. After two years he went to the University of Nebraska to finish his degree.

Work Experience

Buffett earned his master's degree in 1951. He sold securities for Buffett-Falk & Company until 1954. Buffett then worked under his mentor as an analyst at Graham-Newman Corp for two years.

First Firm

In 1956, Buffet formed the firm Buffett Partnership Ltd. in his hometown of Omaha.

Berkshire Hathaway

Warren Buffett dissolved his firm in 1969 to focus on the development of Berkshire Hathaway.

Charity

Buffett announced that he was giving away his entire fortune to charity. 85% of it would go to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Health Issues

Buffett announced in 2012 that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He successfully completed radiation treatment later that year.

Buffett launched a website in 2016 called Drive2Vote. It encouraged people in his community to vote, and assisted voters when it came to registering and taking them to the polling location if they needed a ride.
