  • The assasination of Archduke Franz

    In the Austro-Hungerian throne, Archduke Franz Ferdinana, and his wife, Sohie visited the capital of Bosnia. While walking through the streets they were shot by a 19-year-old named Gavrilo Princip. He was apart of the Black Hand (group dedicated to remove Bosnia of austrian rule.
  • Austria declaring war, beginnning World War I

    Austria declined Serbia's proposal of an international conference. After the offer was turned down, Serbia's ally, Russia ordered troops to go to the Austrialan border.
  • The Schlieffen Plan

    The Schlieffen Plan was created by General Alfred Grafvon Schlieffan to attack France and Russia. Germany's plan was to go west and defeat France then come back east to battle against Russia.

    When Germans invaded Russia they made Russia retreat and they gained east pressure, their enemies guns and horses.Then they fought Russia and won three times.
  • First Battle of Marne

    The victory at the Battle of the Marne for the Allied Powers ruined the plans for the Germans to invade Paris. The German troops were forced to settle for trench warfare that lasted the rest of World War I.

  • Treaty of Brest-Litovsk

    Vladimir Ilyich Lenin offered Germany a peace treaty. On March 1918, Russia and Germany signed the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, which ended the war between them.
  • Second Battle of Marne.

    Allies and German went to war. 350 tanks from the Americans ran through the Germans. Then 2 million more Americans came to the battle field. Soon, the central powers started to fall apart.
  • The End of World War I

    The Central Powers began to crumble. Next the Bulgarians and then the Ottoman Turks surrendered. Austria-Hungary empired ended. On November 9, 1918, Kaiser Wilhelm II stepped down. A representative met with Marshal Foch and they signed an agreement.
