The effect of that was Vlad learned to do anything to stay in power.

The Ottoman Empire was very powerful and they changed Vlad's life drastically. Vlad and his brother was taken hostage by the Ottoman Empire which effected his life. In fact, they basically raised him to who he is today.

In the end of 1447, Hundyadi contacted Vladislav II for help to attack Dracul. Even though Dracul closed the gates to keep the attackers out many boyars within the city were supporters of Vladislav II and killed Dracul. The sultan, Murad II, found out and decided to release Vlad from his prison to become a officer in his army and to take back Wallachia. Vlad's brother also died too. The effect of Vlad's brothers and fathers death was he swore to get his revenge on the boyars.

In 1448, Hunyadi and Vladislav II attaked Turkish territory and while the two armies were in battle. Vlad sneaked into Wallachia and declared himself prince. The Turks managed to win the battle but on the way back Hunyadi and Vladislav II attacked Wallachia with the remains of their army and chased Vlad out. Vlad was on the run at 17, he has only been prince of Wallachia for less than 2 months.
-
In 1452 Hunyadi started to lose trust in Vladislav II so Vlad and Hunyadi decided to become allies once again. Hunyadi found out the Turks were about to launch a attack on Constantinople so he asked Vlad to guard the southern border. Soon Vlad will become prince of Wallachia once more.
-
In 1456, the bubonic plague took over and killed Hunyadi. Unfortunately, Vlad was perfectly fine and so he finally got to be prince. A year passed and in the city of Wallachia were many boyars who still support Vladislav II. Vlad didn't want to share his power with them so he impaled all the boyars. The rest were to be used as slaves to do hard work for Vlad.
-
The Germans weren't afraid of Vlad and so threatened him. The Germans were important for trading and making stuff. In 1457, the Germans rebelled against relatives of Hunyadi causing them to anger Vlad. Then Vlad used a torch to the burn down the houses of the Germans killing hundreds in the process. A year later he punished the German towns by killing everyone and impaling them. He even sat by their corpse to eat!
-
Based on Vlad killing people, he was a very sadistic person. It says that in 1457, he impaled boyars and seemed to enjoy eating by their corpses.
-
In 1462, after the Turks invasion Vlad was on the run but got trapped by the Turks who took him to prison. There was a king called Matthias who promised to help Vlad when he is in prison. Not much is known about what Vlad did in the 12 years of prison but after that King Matthias managed to release him. They led a attack on the Turks but failed. Vlad was killed
-
In 1476, Vlad was killed in the midst of a battle. Supposedly, the killer took his head as a prize and so Vlad was buried near Bucharest.

Vlad the Impaler was the inspiration for the most famous vampire in history Dracula. Thanks to his bloodthirsty and sadistic ways Bram Stoker created an equally evil character, Dracula.
