Lt. Col. Peter Dewey, a U.S Army officer was assigned to go to Vietnam with a seven-man team to find the missing American pilots and gather information on the country after the surrendering of the Japanese. Where he was shot and killed at a roadblock by the Viet Minh soldiers that manned the area thinking he was French caus Dewey had yelled at them in French. Dewey was proved to be the first of nearly 59,000 Americans killed in Vietnam.

Thich Quang Duc was a Buddhist monk protesting the Diemś policies by setting himself on fire in front of a pagoda in Saigon. The reason why he did so was to show charity and compassion to all regions. This caused more Buddhist monks to immolate themselves. In November South Vietnamese military officers assassinated Diem and his brother. -
This picture shows an aircraft with missiles falling out of it. It was called Operation Rolling Thunder, it was used by a U.S. aircraft that bombed certain areas of Vietnam hoping to reduce the number of Vietnamese communist leaders. This picture shows paratroopers of the 1st Brigade, 101st Airborn Divison who died and survived the heavy fire attack from guerrillas as soon as they landed. Where the dead and wounded were brought to An Kehe where the 101st was based. This was one of the first wars between major units of the U.S. forces and the Vietcong (Huet). -
This was the day Saigon fell and the end of the U.S. involvement in Vietnam. North Vietnamese made their final attack on Saigon on April 29, with a heavy artillery bombardment. The bombardment at the Tan Son Nhut Airport killed the last two American servicemen that died in Vietnam.
