The Geneva Conferance was a conferance that took place in Geneva, Switzerland. The reason for the conferance was to try and unify the Koreas.

Search and Destroy Missions were determained on how many enemy forces were killed and not by how much land was taken. Then leave immediately after the battle was over. The helicopter helped American forces get in and out of the battle area fast. Once the American forces left the battle area the Vietcong could come back and reclaim the land.

The Tokin Gulf resolution happended when a North Korean sub launched torpedos at American ships. The ships were said that they did not provocke the torpedo boats. This gave the president the right to use military force to deal with problems with out having to declare war on anyone.

Operation Rolling Thunder was a stratigic bombing event that was designed to put pressure on North Koreas military leaders. Operation Rolling Thunder marked the first American assault on North Vietnamese territory.

More than 30 US Air Force jets striked the Ho chi Minh Trail in hopes of destroying the North Vietnams way of getting supplies to its troops. Once the jets dropped their bombs workers of the North Vietnams army worked fast to make other ways to get back on the trail.

The Tet Offensive was a military campaige launched by the veit cong. It was a surprise attack on the American militray units, because Tet was supposed to be a 2 day cease fire because of celevbration for the North and South.

A platoon of American soldier killed between 200 and 500 civilians in the village of My Lai. The soldiers that had been in the area were told that the people in My Lai could be considered to be VC soldiers. There were 14 officers were supposed to be sentenced to life imprisonment but most of them got and early out.

The battle for the hill took 10 days and there were 10 assults to capture the hill. The Hill 937 was named "Hamburger Hill" because of all the casualtys that took place. It reminded the troops of a meat grinder.

There was a protest on the campus of Kent State because President Richard Nixon sent troops to Cambodia. This sparked protests around the country. Protestors set fire to an ROTC building and thats when the governor of Ohio sent 900 national guard to the school.
