  • Start of WW1

    Start of WW1
    World war one began on July 28, 1914 through November 11, 1918. This was known as the First World War , or the Great war. In late June Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated. He was assassinated by Serbian nationalist. In mid-August was the outbreak of world war 1. Central Powers against the Allied Powers.

    Archduke Franz Ferdinand
    Before war actually broke out Archduke nephew of Emperor Franz was shot to death. Archduke was shot to death along with his wife. They were both assassinated by the Serbian nationalist Gavrilo Princip. The assassination set a rapid chain of events. “Sophie the Duchess of Hohenburg, are killed by Bosnian Serb nationalist Gavrilo Princip. The Austrian government suspects that Serbia is responsible.”
  • Germans

    Germans
    World war I begins. Russians are defeated at battle of Tannenberg. “In only a month the world erupts in war.” When the Russians get derated German “shatter the Russians second Army and take over 92,00 prisoners at the battle of Tannenberg.” Next Germans conduct Air Raidon Paris. This attack had little military value. Just to scared the people.

    Japan started attacks. Capturing Tsingtao, China. Tsingtao is a “lightly garrisoned port city on the yellow sea.” Tsingtao was held by the Germans since 1898. The armies “tried to outflank” each other. That led to trench warfare. The Germans gave up an attacking military campaign by November 24. Christmas carols on no man's land brought troops from both sides together.

    All citizen get a bread card to receive a daily amount of 225 grams a day. The day after a German officer was arrested. German officer was arrested for blowing up a Canadian Pacific Railroad bridge in Main across the St. Croix River.Two days after that German threatens Submarine warfare. German warn British waters. “Would be destroyed without it always being possible to warn the crews and passengers.

    In Berlin, Jen, Desdin, and other Herman cited an anti-war protest took place. The ANZACS- (troops from the British commonwealth countries of Australia and New Zealand) arrived in France. On March 24 there was a sinking of passenger ships. Woodrow Wilson was threatening another one. As a threat of Americans entering the war on the side of the Allies.

    Twenty-eight Americans drown. Germans warned the Americans and sunk the S.S. Attec with a German U-boat. President Wilson gives a speech. In Wilon speech he ask for a declaration of war. “The world must be made “safe for democracy”. Days after the United States put the country on the road to war. Lots of men were introduced and given training.

    Workers are starting to go on strike. Workers are tired of low wages, long hours, and shortages of food and fuel. Workers start protesting the problem. Herbert Hoover starts a program to try and help the food problem. Herbert wants the Americans help. Herberts plan was for Americans to save food.
  • Norvel and guns

    Norvel and guns
    ‘Drilled in the morning. School at night.” In December four men were sent to the hospital with the mumps. Norvel made six out of ten bulls-eyes with a machine gun. Later on that day her was put in command of two guns.
