    This law prohibited Chinese people from immigrating to the USA. This law was passed by Congress in 1882, and was the first significant restriction of immigration into America.
  • First Immigrant Arrives through Ellis Island

    First Immigrant Arrives through Ellis Island

    A teenage girl from Ireland, called Annie Moore, was the first ever immigrant to arrive through Ellis Island. This marked the beginning of millions more to come through this gateway to America.     US Imperialism

    The USA started intervening with other countries and began taking them over. This was for two reasons. First of all these new territories were amazing sources for natural resources and military points. The second was that the Americans believed their culture and race was superior to all other, so they should "fix" countries by taking them over.

    The US took the Philippines over from Spanish rule as a result of the Treaty of Paris. However, soon after, the American-Philippine war broke out and lasted around three years.

The United States became involved in the war in 1917 after Germany's unrestricted submarine warfare and the discovery of the Zimmerman Telegram, which led the US to join the Allies in their fight against the Central Powers.

    American troops arrived in Europe and began fighting in the trenches alongside their European allies. They participated in major battles, such as the Second Battle of the Marne, the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, and others. This was one of the first major wars where trenches were used as protection.

    The Harlem Renaissance was a vibrant cultural and artistic movement that took place in the 1920s in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City. It celebrated and showcased the talents of African American writers, musicians, and artists, who expressed their unique experiences and perspectives through various forms of art, contributing to a renaissance of black culture and identity.

    This was one of the very first major school shootings, and was at the time, the very worst. This was a major event as the US had to question its policies on gun control. Plus, many countries questioned whether violence was glorified in the American media.
