    Saint Patricks Day

    Millions of americans celebrate saint patricks day because patrick was a christian and he always helped out people with religious beliefs and help build churches and achools. The green that everybody wears today symbolizes the shamrock patrick used to describe the idea of holy trinity. Father, son, and holy spirit.
  • First Indian Treaty

    When the colonists first settled in america, they had concerns about getting along with indians. So colonists from new england made a treaty with the indians. The indians thought new england took over to much indian territory so a war broke out between new england and the Wampanoags tribe. new england ended up winning.
  • Ben Franklin

    Ben Franklin was a printer and writer and was the author of poor richards almanac, he was also a statesman. he helped write the decloration of independence. He was one of americas greatest citizens.
  • John Hancock

    Hancock was a leader in the 13 colonies. The british considered hancock as one of the most dangerous men in the thirteen colonies. he was the first person to sign the deloration of independence.
  • Aaron Burr

    Aaron burr was known as a brilliant soldier, lawyer, and statesman. Other people think he was a scoundrel and a murderer. he was the state senate. He had killed Alexander Hamilton in a gun duel.
  • Alexander Hamilton

    Alexander was born in southest Florid, President george washington chose hamilton to become the first secretary of treasury, he was in charge of the country's money. One of hamiltons enemies was Aaron burr who also shot and killed hamilton in 1804.

    The day where all the swallow birds migrate to the San juan capistrano between san diego and los angeles. No one knows exactly why the birds migrate the way they do.

    Eli Whitney invented the Cotton gin. A cotton gin is a machine that seperates cotton, fibers leaving seeds behind to plant. For this act he was granted a patent.
  • Millard Fillmore

    Millard fillmore was born in a log cabin. His wife mrs.Filmore helped to start the white house library. When zachary taylor was president, millard fillmore was vice president.
  • National Nickname

    The national nickname for the U.S. government is "uncle Sam". This started when Government supplies were being brought in from ohter states, Samuel wilson was the inspector and the workers there always called his boss uncle sam.
  • Susan B. Anthony

    The first women to fight for womens rights back then. She was Involved in the womens sufferage movement. Sufferage means a vot or a right to vote. after a few years the laws changed and women were given the right to vote.
  • Fall Of The Alamo

    Long ago in the 1800's texas belonged to mexico. Mexico welcomed the texans. As more and more came into mexico. The texans started getting mad and got tired of the rules in mexico so they decided to break free. Mexican government didnt want to give up the texas territory. So the Mexicans and Americans fought for it. Texas was the one to win the territory.
  • Buffalo Bill

    Buffalo Bill was a rider for the pony express. Mailing mail around the U.S. he also worked for supplying buffalo meat for the laborers building kansas-pacific railroad. This is were the name buffalo bill got to Wiliam. He is mostly known for opening his first Wild West show for cowboys, indians, and for anyone to do compete with other cowboys in competitions.

    He was the first man to invent the telephone, phonograph, motion picture equipment, and most importantly the light bulb. He was always a hard worker and made improvments on machines or new ones for the world.
  • Johnny Appleseed Day

    John chapman was the one people called Johnny Appleseed. They called him that because he planted apple tree seed all over the world. He travled by canoe and foot. He lived around nature and the animals. Thats what made him so independent and brave.

    In 1848 James Marshall discovered gold in california on a ranch that belonged to John Sutter.
  • Luther Burbank

    Luther Bank was all about plants, flowers and garden life. He grew lots of fruits and vegetables in his gardens. Then he started experimenting with the seed of different kinds of fruit and vegetables. He combined a plum seed with and apricot seed and made the plumcot. When he died, he was already working on over 3.000 experiments.

    The United states used to be divided over slavery. During the time a women named harriet beecaher was against slavery and thought all slaves should be free. She wrote a book called uncle toms cabin that explains how she feels about slavery and why, also the way slaves have been treated by others.

    Medals of honor are rewarded for the brave and outstanding individuals in the U.S. the first man to be rewarded with a medal of honor was Colonel Bernard Irwin for his outstanding courage of sending his troop to fight the battle again Chiricahua Apache Indians at Apache Pass.

    Before the year of 1862 Ships were made out of wood, They were more likely to break or get destroyed in battle. During the civil war. the north and the south decieved each other. so they both eventually made ships out of Iron panles. the norths ship was called Monitor and the souths ship was called Merrimac, sank by the north.

    the President that was president for 12 year long. He was considered the greatest president of the united states, even during the great depression and WW2.

    Sinclair was the first american to win a nobel prize for being a great writer.

    Knute Rockne was a student and graduate from Notre Dame University in south beach indiana. He was a well known football player during his years on the team. After graduating he decided to be a coach for the same university he played at.
  • Lewis Carroll

    Lewis Carroll made a living as a math teacher, He wrote the story Alice in wonderland for his friends daughter Alice liddell, the original story was sold for $75,000. He came up with the story as he was using drugs.
  • Famous American Aviator

    From New York City a flight competion was being held for $25,000 for whoever gets to paris in a plane non-stop. The first one to do it was Charles Lindbergh.

    The first boy scouts of america was founded in washington D.C. by a man named William Boyce.
  • Robert Scott

    Captian Scott was an enlgish explorer who wanted to be the first to step on the frozen land south pole. Roald Amundsen was the first to actually go to the south pole.

    The 48th U.S. state. Arizonas capital is Phoenix, and its nickname is the Grand canyon State. Arizona recieves little rain and has a great range of temperatures. Average year of rainfall is 14 inches.

    Richard Nixon was born in California. He became president in 1969.He lied to the american people, and president ford pardoned nixon when nixon resigned.

    The cornerstone was laid for the foundation of the Abraham lincoln memorial in wachington D.C. The 36 pillars represent the 36 states at the time. The lincoln statue was made out of marble.
  • Buffalo Bill

    Buffalo Bill's real name was william cody. He was a rider for the pony express when he was 15. the pony express was a mail service between st. Joseph, missouri and sacramento. He first put on a wild west show for indians and cowboys.
  • Bobby Riggs

    Bobby riggs was a world-champion tennis player and he also lost to Billie jean King when he was 55. Billie Jean was the worlds woman champion at the time. the winner recieved $100,000.
  • Jackie Robinson

    the first team that jackie robinson was in was the Brooklyn Dodgers, they were a team with black men only. They eventually made it to the major league. jackie robinson was elected to be in the hall of fame in 1962.
  • Martin Luther King

    Dr.King was a civil rights leader. King gave a famous speech on january 28 at the lincoln memorial in washington D.C. his famous speech was "i have a dream".
  • Pluto

    It had took thirty years to find the ninth planet X or Pluto. In the 1800s astronomers thought that there must be another planet beyond Neptune. The man who found Pluto was professor Tombaugh.
  • Elvis Presley

    Elvis Presley was the most famous rock and roll singer. He was known as king of rock and roll. When he was 19 he was a truck driver, and his most famous album was "All shook up".

    the first five baaseball players were elected to be in the hall of fame museum in cooperstown, NewYork.
  • A Wartime Decision

    Pearl harbor nval base in hawaii was bombed by the japanese on dec 7, 1941 which started WorldWar2. Japanese Americans were living in the pacific coast states. The U.S. military leaders learned the plans being made in Japan. Soon later President Franklin Roosevelt signed an order to have japanese americans in prison camps until worldwar2 was over.

    Al Capone was the most famous gangster in chicago, his nickname was "scareface". He sold ellegal alcohol drinks during the 1930's. He was so powerful he controlled the whole city of chicago.
  • Two Term Limit

    The two term limit refers to a president only being allowed to be president for 8 years. No other president before Franklin Roosevelt had ever served more than two terms, Roosevelt served 4 terms.

    The first man to travel around the earth three times launched from Florida was John Glenn. He flew 18,000 miles per hour and traveled a distance of 83,450 miles in four hours.
  • Bonnie Blair

    Olympic five gold medalist Bonnie bair was the world-famous speed skater also known as the fastest speed skater, and she is the only american women to win the olympics. her nickname in to some reporters is Bonnie Blur because shes so fast.
  • Lyndon B. Johnson

    Lyndon was the vice president who became president of the U.S. after president John F. Kennedy was assassinated in dallas texas. Lyndon is remembered as being the president while the U.S. was fighting in vietnam.

    Astronomers have been studying the planets for thousands of years. No spacecrafts are traveling to distant planets. in 1977 Voyager 1 was launched to begin its trip into space to find jupiter. The craft was packed with sensitive intruments, and the craft also took pictures and other data about the other planets and moons.

    Captain kirk was a very important character in the sci-fi tv show star trek, created by Gene Roddenberry. Captain kirk was played by William shatner.

    the space shuttle "challenger" was launched in space in 1986, when it launched it blew up in pieces, some pieces were found in the ocean. seven astronuats died.

    The air war against Iraq involving the U.S. England, France, Italy, Saudi Arabia and Kuwat. the war started on august 2, 1990 when iraq invaded the country of Kuwait.

    Janet Reno was the nations first attorney general. She was in charge of many things involving the justice department. She is very intelligent and responsible for her actions.Her family was all apart in the justice department growing up.

    A leap Year is a year were there is 29 days in febuary, It takes longer for the earth to circle around the sun. It takes approximatley 365.5 days
