    Little Rock is desegregated starting with the Little Rock 9 attending Little Rock Central High School.

    The Soviet Union launches the first satellite called Sputnik.

    the Explorer 1, the US's satellite, is launched kickstarting the SPace Race between the US and the Soviet Union.

    Richard Nixon is elected the 37th US President.

    Nixon announces his new plan of training Vietamese troops in order to pull US troops out of the Vietnam War.

    26th amendment is "withdrawn" changing the voting age from 21 to 18.

    the Watergate scandal involved 5 men burglarizing the democratic national committee headquarters. The subsequent investigation results in Nixon's resignation as President.
