His first voyage was in 1492, wherein he discovered North America (Caribbean islands) and named it the West Indies. He will make four voyages to the new world without fully realizing what he had discovered.

    1518-the mid 19th century many African women, men, and kids were sent across the Atlantic ocean to the “new world”. In Europe the Africans were sent to work for the Americans, and West Indies.

    The southern colonies were made up by New Hampshire,Massachusetts,Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. King James I divided up the Atlantic seaboard and gave ½ to the London Colony and the other half to Plymouth Colony.

    Jamestown was the first official colony and made in 1607. It was the first private venture, Also was financed and organized by Virginia. By the time it was 1606, It was an established company, King James I gave permission to a charter to get a group of investors and check out Jamestown.

    In 1620, a group of 100 men and women, a lot were English Separatists, known as Pilgrims. They were on a boat that took them to a “New world”. 2 months later they landed in Cape Cod, later known as Massachusetts.

    In 1620, pilgrims arrived in Plymouth to find the Plymouth Colony. With the help of local natives. The colonists soon got the hang of farming, fishing and hunting for food.

    The Massachusetts Bay Colony settled in Massachusetts in 1630. Many leaders, such as; Roger Williams of Salem, Anne Hutchinson of Boston, unrepentant Quakers and Anabaptist's were banished. Over the years the Massachusetts Bay Colony had grown to 20,000 inhabitants.

    In 1664, King Charles II gave territory to Virginia and New England while most of the territory was occupied by Dutch Traders and Landowners. Most of the Dutch Traders stayed put, this made New York one of the most diverse and prosperous colonies in the new world.

    1720 was part of a religious ferment that swept Eastern Europe in the latter. The Great Awakening was under the fluence of Jonathon Edward, George Whitefield and more. It served to revitalize religion in the region.
