  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A clash between British soldiers and Boston colonists, which five colonists were killed. Thus it was a British attack. There was competition for jobs between colonists and poorly paid soldiers who looked for extra work in local shipyards during off-duty hours.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    A large group of Boston rebels disguised themselves as Native Americans and proceeded to take action against three British tea ships anchored in the Harbor. The "Indians" dumped 18.000 pounds of the East India Company's tea into the waters of Boston Harbor.
  • 5 Intolerable Acts by King George

    5 Intolerable Acts by King George
    King George III was infuriated by this organized destruction of British property, and he pressed Parliament to act. Parliament responded by passing a series of measures that colonist called the Intolerable Acts. One law shut down Boston Harbor, Another was the Quartering Act, America was appointed a new governor.

    He wrote the Declaration of Independance, He was known for his broad knowledge and skillfully crafted prose, was chosen to express the commuttee's points.

    The Articles of Confederation, which John Dickinson helped write five years realier, go into effect In which two levels of government ahared fundamental powers.State governments were supreme in some maatters, while the antional government was supreme in other matters. The delegates called this new form of goverment a confederation, or a alliance.

    Confirmed U.S independance and set boudaries of the new nation. The United States now stretched from the Alantic Ocean to the Mississippi River and from Canada to the Florida border.

    Shay's Rebellion
    Daniel Shays lead a rebellion of farmers in Massachusetts. As the farmers' protested, this caused Panic and dismay throughout the nation. Every state had debt-ridden farmers. The new nation's reputation was in danger and private property also. The nation needed a stronger national government. In order to prevent abuse of power, the states had placed such severe limits on the government that the government was too weak.
  • Federalism

    Federalism
    The new form of government that divided power between the national government and the state governments. The powers granted to the national by the Constitution are known as delegated pwers, or enumerated powers.

    The Legislative branch is ran by the Congress to make the laws, Executive branch is ran by the President who carries out the laws, the Judicial Branch is ran by them Supreme Court which the interpret the law.

    Thomas Jefferson and the Anti-Federalists
    They opposed having sich a strong central government and this were against the Constitution. Thomas Jefferson agreed with the Anti-Federalist and thought that there should be a Bill of Rights added to the Constitution.
  • George Washington

    George Washington
    As George Wasgington took office as the first president of the United States under the Consitution, he had congress faced a daunting tast, to create an entirely new government. Washington picked Thomas Jeffersonas secretatory of state, Alexander Hamilton as of the treasury, and Henry Knox as secretatory of way. These departments soon became the presidents chief advisers, or Cabinet. Alexander Hamilton created the Bank of the United States which united the governments.
