    On this date, the delegates from the 13 colonies gathered in Philidelphia to discuss what to add/change to the Constitution.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Purchase
    In 1802, France had rule over the Louisiana territory. Settlers were moving Westward and were highly dependant on the Mississippi River for easy access to trade and commerce. France turned New Orleans over to Spain who closed the port. When Jefferson offered to buy New Orleans, France offered the whole Louisiana Purchase for $15 milliom. [McDougal Littell]
  • Louis and Clark Expedition

    Louis and Clark Expedition
    In the summer of 1803, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark set off to follow the instructions of Jefferson to explore the Louisana territory, find a water route across the continent, make good relationships with Native Americans, and describe what they see . The first winter they made it all the way to St. Louis and stayed until summer. The second winter they rested in North Dakota with the Mandan people. The summer of 1805 they were joined by Sacagawea. They reached the Pacific ocean in 1805.
  • The Texas Revolution

    The Texas Revolution
    Texas belonged to the Spanish government in 1820. They tried to give tracts of land to people who would find settlers for the land. When that didnt work they let Moses Austin start an American colony there. As population increased, Americans disobeyed Mexican laws, disagreed with the abolishment of slavery, and the Tejanos found Americans hard to live with. On Febuary 23, 1836 Santa Anna's troops surrounded San Antonio. The Americans won the war and took over Texas and California.

    In the winter of 1846, 81 pioneers on their way to California get stuck in the mountians in Sierra Nevada during a snow storm. Eventually people started dying and some of the remaining turn to caniballism.

    On January 24, 1848, James Marshall found the first peice of gold in his sawmill. By 1849, people from all over the United States were gathered in the American River in hopes to find gold.     Harpers Ferry was the small town in West Virginia that John Brown had set as the sight for the raid of the arsenal.

    On this date, Abraham Lincoln was assasinated in Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. He was shot by a member of his cabinet, names John Wilkes Booth. This changed the way all presidents were protected from them on.

    In the morning on this date, a 10,000-pound atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. About 215,000 people died. This led to the surrender of Japan and the inauguration of the age of nuclear weapons.

    On this day, John F. Kennedy won the elections by "critisizing" the Eisenhower way of Presidence. When he was elected he promised the US citizens "pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of liberty."

    On this date, a terrorist group from Islam flew planes into New York City and crashed unexpectantly into the Twin Towers. A third plane crashed into the Pentagon. The forth plane was hijacked by its passengers on its way to the White House and was crashed in a feild in Shanksville. This was the first US terrorist attack that killed almost 3,000 people.
