  • Signing of the Declaration of Independence

    Also known as the "Fourth of July," The signing of the declaration of independence was a statement announcing the start of the thirteen colonies and United States' independance from Great Britian.
  • Ratification of the United States Constitution

    This was the day when the congress adopted the 12 amendments to the U.S. Constitution and sent it to states for ratification.
  • Patent issued for Cotton Gin

    This was when Eli Whitney, the inventor of the cotton gin succesfully applied for a patent for the cotton gin. The cotton gin made it easier to remove seeds from cotton. This invention caused more cotton to be produced in the south.

    The Lewis and Clark expedition was an expedition led by explorers Meriweather Lewis, and William Clark to explore the open land of the Louisiana Purchase and try to make it all the way to the Pacific Ocean. On the way, they ran into Native American tribes that supplied them with food, water, shelter, and even their own horses!
  • First mill built in Lowell, Massachusetts

    This was when the first textile mill was built. Mills were basically factories run by a river which manufactured things like clothing. However, the mills had terrible working conditions and were closed.

    This was the war on Mexico and America ended. The treaty gave 525,000 suare miles to America causing the creation of the states Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.
