    The Years of the Revolutionary War
    About 5 a.m on April 19th of 1775, about 700 british troops on a mission to capture Patriot leaders and seize a Patriot arsenal, march into Lexington to find 77 soldiers waiting for their arrival. This was the begining of the fight of the British and the Americans.

    The signing of the Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence is a statement adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. This document is a sign of Americas freedom and liberty from the ruling of England. The Declaration of Independence was only adopted by the government on July 4th, 1776, then agreed to be signed in the begining of the following August. Without the Declaration America wouldnt be have the same privleges as it does today.
  • Ratification of the United States Constitution

    Ratification of the United States Constitution
    The Constitution of the United States was signed, and put into affect in 1787. The approving of the constitution took place to inform the public of the new changes in the government.

    The Louisiana Purchase was bought by Thomas Jefferson in the 1800's. This territory was bought in order to gain land for farmers, and to gain complete ownership over the Missisipi river, in order to transport goods across the river. (McDougal Littell, pg. 334-346).

    The Lewis and Clark Journey
    The Lewis and Clark journey took place in May of 1804, with the intensions to explore the West in order to explore the Missisipi river, and record any animals or plants they had seen. Thomas Jefferson hired a young officer named Meriwether Lewis, and Lewis asked William Clark, a young map maker to join along in the journey. (McDougal Littel page. 344-346)

    The most famous rebellion of all was led by Nat Turner who led whites across Southampton County, Virginia killing more than 200 blacks in anger.(McDougal Littel, pg, 376)
  • The Texas Revolution

    The Texas Revolution
    The Mexican government's actions had been causing mad Texans to be rebelling towarda the governement. Stephen F. Austin went to Mexico City to present requested reforms to the Mexican officials. The officials refused to meet the reforms standards, and decided to march to the town of Gonzales, and they seized a cannon over the town, which later resulted in the revolution.     Before the war, Mexico allowed Americans to move into their territory, texas in order to get away from taxes. Soon after this agreement, the Mexican government feared that America may be taking over their territory, and decided to kick out Americans. The Americans got angry and they rebelled.     Donner Party
    In 1846, the Donner party found themselves trapped by the snow in Nevada. As the members of the party died from things as starvation, dehydration, and illness, the remaining people of the party turned to cannabolism in order to live.     In 1848 a carpenter named James Marshall was building a sawmillin Northern California when he made the discovery of Gold. The news about the discovery swept across the country, and thousands of people across the world traveled to California in the search for gold. (McDougal Littel page. 439-443
  • Uncle Toms Cabin

    Uncle Toms Cabin
    Under the law of the Fugitive Slave act, accused fugatives could be held without an arrest warrant. The accused also had no right to a jury trial. A federal commisioner ruled on each case instead. A writer named Harriet Beecher Stowe was angry about the Slave act, which inspired her to write the book "Unc;e Toms Cabin". The book showed the horror of slavery and showed many people the truth of it, (McDougal Littel, pg.485)
  • Bleeding Kansas

    Bleeding Kansas
    During the election of 1855, there were less anti- slavery settlers than proslavery settlers, whiched caused many Missouri residents to come to Kansas and vote illegally. Antislavery settlers rejected the elected government and had a proslavery mob, called the Sack of Lawrence. (McDougal Littell, pg.487)

     The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
    On April 14th 1865, Abraham Lincoln was assaninated by John Wilkes Booth. Abraham Lincoln had been against slavery, and was working on helping African Americans to gain freedom by trying to convince the community to think the same way. John Wilkes Booth thought that black freedom shouldnt exsist, and he began planning the murder of Abe Lincoln. The original plan was to kill the seecretary of state, and vice president. Instead they killed the president at the Ford's theatre in Washington D.C.

    World War I began on July 28 of 1914. This war for approximately 4 years, in November of 1918. The war was started by the Germans, and the Ottomin Empire. Many other countries got involved in order to fight against them like France, Russia, and the U.S.

    In 1929 the Stock Markets were the major source of income for the American people. In the begining the Americans thought that investing in the stock market was a risky decision, they then realized that many people were making millions of of these markets so they began investing. Since more and more people began to invest these markets began to fall because banks were investing with other peoples money without their customers knowing. Americans lost everything they had worked for.

    The first Superman comic was published in 1933. There were many comics written before this, but were turned down due to law suits. The first Superman character was actually a villian on the wrong side of the law.

    On September 1st of 1939, WWII began when Germany invaded the country of Poland. The Holacost occured during this war. This war was considered to be the deadliest war in human history.
  • Japans attack on Pearl Harbor

    Japans attack on Pearl Harbor
    The attack on Pearl Harbor was a suprise military strike by the Imperial Japenese Navy. The attack happened on the morning of December 7th 1941, at the Pearl Harbor Naval Base. The base was attacked by more than 350 Japenese fighters, bombers, and torpedo planes. The Japanese attacked because they were trying to prevent the U.S military from interfering with their military plans.

    On August 6th 1945, America became the first country to use atomic weapons during the war. This was used for revenge on the Japenese for bombing Pearl Harbor. The American soilders dropped the bomb on the Japenese, which marked the end of World War II.

    The Korean War started between the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North and South Korea). Approximately 75,000 North Korean Soilders came across the border of the Democratic people and the Republic of North Korea. Finnaly in July of 1953 the war came to an end.

    The Inaguguration of John F. Kennedy happened on January 20th 1961. Many Americans called Kennedys speech, uplifting. They said Kennedy had created a challenge for the Americans to serve their country at the time when the Cold War was stirring over seas for Americans Civil Rghts.

    The Spiderman character was created by Stan Lee, in the year of 1962. Stan was looking for a new super hero role for Marvel, when he thought of the idea for Spiderman. He thought that Spiderman would be a great hit for the teen readers for the company, which was the begining of Spiderman.

    The march on Washington took place in Washington D.C in 1963. Black Americans all joined in the march to gain freedom, equality and jobs in America. That day in Wshington D.C Martin Luther King gave his famous "I have a dream" speech. The famous speech that will always be an important landmark in history.

    The First Super Bowl between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs
    The First AFL-NFL World Championship Game in professional American football. After a while it was known as Super Bowl. It was played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles California. The Green Bay packers were the winners of the first Superbowl.

    The first inauguration of Ronald Regan happened on January 20th 1981. President Reagan was about to have lunch with Congressional leaders in Statuary Hall in the Capitol after the inauguration ceremony when he was told about the plane carrying the hostages had left Iranian airspace. Minutes after the inauguration the Americans held hostage in Iran were released.

    The Explosion of the Challenger Space Shuttle
    On January 28th 1986, a teacher and 6 astronauts went aboard of the Challenger Space Shuttle. 73 seconds after blast off, the challenger exploded leading to the death of all 7 of it's passengers.

    On September 11th 2001, four airlines were hijaked by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists. The planes were crashed into the North and South towers of the World trade centers in New York City. Since 9/11 America has become more cautious with foreigners coming into America.

    Event from my life
    This year in July was our family vacation to Raystown Lake. It was our 6th time going to the lake, and going to our cabin. We go on the boat to tube and water ski.This i a tradition that we plan on keeping.
