    Signing of the Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4th,1776. Which gives us the holiday of July 4th with all the fireworks. On this day 55 founding fathers signed the document. John Hancock signed the largest, one of the other reasons it is so well remembered. The Declaration helped America to become free.
  • Ratification of the United States Constitution

    Ratification of the United States Constitution
    Delegates from all over came to help draft and ratify the Constitution. The convention lasted nearly four months. But because of it we have the Constitution giving us laws and rules.
  • The Louisiana Purchaase

    The Louisiana Purchaase
    Jefferson offered to buy New Orleans from France. But France responded by offering all of the Louisiana territory. Jefferson bought the Louisiana Territory for three cents per acre, therefore becoming known as the Louisiana Purchase.
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    Lewis and Clark Expedition
    jefferson chose Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore the Louisiana Territory.They studied the new speicies of plants and animals, and made peace with the Indians.

    Nat Turner and many other men killed about 55 white men, women and children. Most of them were caught including Turner. Who was tried and hanged.
  • The Texas Revolution

    Stephan F. Austin was a settler in Texas, and at that time Texas was still under Spanish Rule. Austin sent reforms to General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. The general agreed to most of the reforms until he learned about a letter Austin had wrote. This was rebellion therefore bringing the start of the war.

    On April 25, 1846 some Mexican troops crossed the Rio Grande and attacked an american patrol. President Polk sent a "rousing war" message to congress. A few days later Congress declared war on Mexico, becoming what is known as the war with Mexico.

    The Donner Party is a group of American pioneers that got trapped in the Sierrra Nevada. They swiftly ran out of food and resorted to eating their animals. Then when all of the animals were gone, the remaining survivors had to eat the remains of the dead.

    James Marshall, a carpenter, was building a sawmill in northern California. He found a shiney stone in the American river. His discovery lead to one of the greatest migrations in the history of America. Now known today as the California Gold Rush.

    Fugitive Slave Act
    This law says that any fugitive can be held without a warrent. It also states that the fugitive is not given a trial. Therefore if a slave escapes to the north, the owner in the south may come to the north and retrieve their slave without a warrent.

    The book showed the cruelty of slavery to the north. It also helped the abolistionist movement to start. And gave to north a reason to fight against slavery, because they were no longer in the dark about what was actually happening.

    People were voting for whether or not slavery should be allowed in Kansas. Then John Brown and others started killing neighbors and eventually Civil War broke out among the people living in Kansas.

    John Brown wanted to start an "uprising" with the slaves. So on October 16, 1859 him and 18 other men went and took over Harper's Ferry. U.S. marines attacked the men. Most of them died, others captured and executed.

    The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise military strike conducted by the Japanese. This attack led the US into World War II. The attack was put forward to disable the US army and prevent them from intervening on the war. Thousands were killed and many were injured.

    The dropping of the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima was a finally act of the United States on Japan at the end of World War II. The war officially ended when Nazi-Germany signed its surrender in 1945. The dropping of the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima was tragic for Japan because it destroyed many cities and killed thousands.

    The Inauguration of John F. Kennedy was held on January 20th, 1961. This was the date that President Kennedy was elected and sworn into office. The Inauguration of John F. Kennedy important because he supported and helped the Civil Rights movement in that time.

    The March on Washington was one of the larges political rallies in history. It was also where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous I Have A Dream speeh, in front of the Lincoln Memorial. The march was an important part of the Civil Rights movement.

    President Kennedy and his wife were riding in a presidential motorcade when he was fatally shot in the back of the head by Lee Harvey Oswald. A ten month investigation was held then the arrested Oswald. President Kennedy in my opinion was a good president, but impacted the entire nation when he was murdered.

    The First Super Bowl between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs got its name from the then owner of the cheifs' daughter. Like most kids she had a super ball. The First Super Bowl between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs gave us the Suber Bowl that we all love to watch.

    8:25am on September 11, 2001 American Airlines Flight 11 hit the Northern World Trade Center tower in New York City. Soon after United Airlines Flight 175 flew into the south tower. Then another plane hit the pentagon in Washington DC. Both towers collapsed, in total over 3,000 were killed.
