    On July 4th 1776 the decleration of independince was singned. The declercleration was to tell the King of England that they where no longer apart of England but that they wanted freedom and prosperity. This document was the begining of the revolutionary war.

    The ratifican of the Contitution was the states confirming that they belive in the things in the Constitution, and that they will follow the laws stated in it. The Ratification took many years because one state at a time decided to ratify it. Rhode island was the last state to ratify it.

    Presient Jefferson went to Napolion to buy New Orleans, so they could have control over the Missisippi River. Napolion suprised him by offering up the entire louisiana land for 3 cents an acre. Jefferson happily agreed and made the Louisiana Purchase, and doubling the size of our country.

    Thomas Jefferson needed someone to go explore the louisiana purchas. So he asked Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. They went through hard times on their way up but they made it through the journey witha greater understanding of the land and they created the firt good maps.

    Some Settlers that where traveling west decided to taker a short cut to California. Little did they know that it would start snowing and b to hard to pass through the mountins. They where stuck there for months and they had to eat each other to survive. They are now well known.

    On April 25 some Mexican soilders crosse over on o American soil and attacted some American soilders. That was it. Congress declared war three days later. In May 1846, General Zachary Taylor led troops into mexico. General Steven Kearny went to occupy New Mexico and Californa. The Americans sent two parties into Mexico one for the north, and one for the south. The states had won.

    James Marshall found a small gold nugget in a river in Californa. This marks the start of the Califonia gold rush. After this discovery alot of people started moving west. After the gold rush was over some of the fortie-niners desided to stay in California.

    This was a law passed in 1850. The law said that any slave that reached freedom in the north can be tracked, and taken back into slavery. Sometimes even free black men where taken into slavery. The northerners wherent happy with this law, and it made more people anbolitionist cause.

    Uncle Tom's Cabin was a novel written by Harriet Beecher Stowe in 1852. The book was written to unveil the horrid truth behind slavery. It was inspired by the fugitive slave law in 1850. It showed all people the crulness of slavery.

    On this day Abraham Lincon, the 16th presidnet of the united states was assasinated by John Wikes Booth. He was watching a play in the Historic Ford's Theater. When Booth, a famous american stage actor shot hin from a boucany.

    The Stock Market Crash of 1929 was what caused the great depression. On this day the stock market fell and margin calls (The people that loaned them money had to pay the 80-90% they owed) where made. Lost millions and most where in debt because of this major crash.

    The United States became the first and only country to use atomic weapons in WWII. The bomb was dropped in Hiroshima Japan, ending WWII. That nucualar attack may have also started the cold war.

    On this day nineteen Islamic terroists took over four planes. Two of those planes crashed into the World Trade Center, otherwise known as the Twin Towers. The third plane crashed into the Pentagon, only some was destroyed. The final plane was headed toward Washington DC. The passangers on that plane had heard about earlier attaks and knew their plane was going down, so they stopped the terroists before they could reach Washington DC, sacrificeing themselves in the prosses.
