    The Years of the Revolutionary War
    For months the patriots had been gathering arms and powder and had been training to fight the British if it were necessary. The first gun shots were fired in April of 1775. It was seven years and it went from 1763-1783.
  • Signing of the Declaration of Independence

    Signing of the Declaration of Independence
    Thomas Jefferson submitted the Declaration of Independence to the Continental Congress on July 2nd 1776. All the members of the Continental Congress then gathered at Independence Hall to witness the signing of the document on July 4th 1776. The Continental Congress took 2 days to edit the Declaration of Independence
  • Ratification of the United States Constitution

    Ratification of the United States Constitution
    The new U.S. Constitution created a strong federal government with a difficult system of checks and balances. The new U.S. Constitution was signed by 38 of the 41 delegates present at the conclusion of convention. The document would not become binding until it was ratified by nine of the 13 states.

    France and Spain were in the process of negotiating the control of the Louisiana Territory. Jefferson offered to buy New Orleans from France to aviod any hatred. Surprisingly the French answered and asked if the United States would buy the whole Louisiana Purchase. In April 30 1803 the Lousiiana Purchase was approved for 15 million dollars, doubling the united states size. (McDougal Littell)
  • The Lewis and Clark

    The Lewis and Clark
    The expidition then left St. Louis in May 1804, with Lewis and Clark leading it and help from Sacagawea later in their journey. They were commmanded to explore the Mississippi in order to find a water route across the continent. Also they were supposed to mke good relationships with the Native Americans and describe everything they saw. This expidition helped make the first good map. (McDougal Littell)

    Texas wanted to be a self-governing state. Then later on March 1-2 1835 Texas decided to go to war to declare Texas an independent republic. On February 23, 1836 Santa Anna’s troops had San Antonio surrounded. Alamos defenders held the Mexicans off for 12 violent days, then on the 13th day Santa Anna ordered 1,800 men to storm the fortress. The Texans met the Alamo’s and at the days end more than 1,000 mexicasn died, and the battle was over

    Whites invaded the Native American homes they gave them no choice but to sign treaties and move to “Indian Territory.” In 1832 court chief Justice John Marshall made a rule that the federal government could make the laws about the Cherokee Nation. Later in 1838 federal troops led about 16,000 Cherokee troops into camps, soldiers took the Indains from their homes, with nothing. Over the fall the Indians were forced to take a long journey west, in the rain, and snow, many got ill and died.

    Mexican units enterd the Rio Grande and destroyed the American Patrol, in April 25, 1864. Then Polk sent a message that “Mexico has invaded our territory and shed American blood on American soil,” and he sent a war messenger to deliver it to Congress. Then after two days congress finally declared war against Mexico. Then in the year 1846 general Zachary Taylor led his troops into Mexico. Later in February 23, 1847 the war in north Mexico was over, and in September 1847 America had won the war.

    James Marshall made an important discovery on January 24, 1848. As he was working on building a sawmill in California he saw something shinning coming from the nearby river. He went over to the shinning object and it was gold. This discovery was one of the greatest migrations in American history. Lots of people from around the world came to California in 1849 in hopes of also finding gold and making a fortune. About 250,000 people came intot the U.S, for the Gold Rush. (McDougal Littell)

    Funitive Slave Act (McDougal Littell)
    There was one bill that had hightened rather than calmed the compromise of 1850. This bill was known as the, "Fugitive Slave Act". This bill had stated that accused fugitives could be held without an arrest warrant. Southerners beleived in this bil because slaves were known as property. This bill allowed slave catchers to capture slaves that were free in the north and bring them back to the south and use them as slaves.

    More proslavery residents than antislavery settlers in the Kansas Territory, while the election of March 1855 was going on. Then about 5,000 neighboring residents of the Missouri came into Kansa and voted illegally. Making the legislature full of proslavery representatives. This was the reason for the attack called Sack of Lawrence. Then John Borwn led some man in a massacre, know as Potawatomie Massacre. News spread and civil war broke out, the territory was known as Bleeding Kansas after that.

    John Brown planned to capture weapons in the U.S at Harpers Ferry, Virginia. As planned, on October 16, 1859, brown and a few helpers captured the weapons. Then word was sent to gather local slaves and arm them, but his planned failed as none of the slaves joined in to fight. He was then attacked by U.S marines at Harpers Ferry. Many of Browns man had escaped but Brown and 6 of his man didn't. Borwn was then sentenced to be hung, Since he was tried for murder and betrayal.

    The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
    Abraham Lincoln and his wife Mary Todd were attendeding a showing of the comedy, "Our America Cousin" at Fords Theater in Washington, D.C., with their guests Major Henry R. Rathbone and his fiancée, Clara Harris, on Friday, April 14, 1865. Early in the second act, an assassin entered the presidents box, fired one pistol shot into Lincoln's head.

    The years of World War 1

    World War I started because of the assassination of Austria's Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie. From 1914 to 1917 soldiers on each side of the line fought from their trenches. By 1917, the Allies were starting to run low on young men. On April 6, 1917 the United States declared war on Germany. At the end of 1918, an armistice was finally agreed upon. For the next several months, diplomats argued and compromised together in order to come up with the Versailles Treaty.

    A rare copy of the comic book featuring Superman's first appearance that went undiscovered for over 70 years in the insulation of a Minnesota house that sold for $175,000. David Gonzalez was restoring a house and while doing that he found this one of a kind Superman comic in the ceiling insulation. A guy named Fisher estimated that there was only 100 known copies of Action Comics No. 1. That Action comic was published in 1938.

    World War II started on September 3, it was a conflit that involved virtually every part of the world through the years of 1939-1945. The principal of war was the Axis-France, Great Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union, and, to a lesser extent, Chin. The war was a continuation in many respects, after an uneasy 20-year hiatus World War 1. The 40,000,000-50,000,000 deaths incurred in World War ll make it the bloodiest conflit as well as the largest war in histroy.

    On this date the Japanese attacked the United States Naval base in Hawaii bringing the United States into World War II against the Axis Powers of Germany, Italy and Japan. The United States would fight with Britain and the Soviet Union making up the Allied Powers.

    The dropping of the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima
    A bomber nicknamed Enola Gay took off from Tinian Island for a six-and-a-half-hour flight to Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945. A 10,000-pound atomic bomb equivalent to 20,000 tons of TNT detonated 2,000 feet above the city a little after eight in the morning. A mushroom-shaped cloud was sent from the explosion 40,000 feet into the atmoshphere and destroyed virtually everything within a mile and a half of ground zero. The blast killed 80,000 people.

    The Korean War all started when communist North Korea invaded South Korea. The United States secured a resolution from the United Nations calling for the military defense of South Korea. The U.S. intervention turned the tide of the war. Soon the U.S. and South Korea forces were pushing into the North Korea and towards the china border.

    The Inauguration of John F. Kennedy
    John F. Kennedy was elected president in November 1960, and won the president election I part by criticizing the Eisenhower administrater. His inaugration was held on January 20, 1961, where he pledged that under his leadership the United States would "pay and price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of liberty."

    In 1961 president Kennedy sends his military advisers to Vietnam. Ho chi Minh North Vietnamese leader refuses peace talk with president Lyndon Johnson in 1965. In 1968 Martin Luther King Jr. and Kennedy are assassinated. Ho chi Minh dies in Hanoi in 1969, Joan Baez, The who, and Jimi Hendrix headline the Woodstock Music Festival. 1973 Last U.S ground troops leave Vietnam.

    The Green Bay Packers of the NFL were playing against the Kansas City Chiefs of the AFL for the very first time. The event was then called the super bowl even though most AFL-NFL games would be called World Championship Game. The super bowl got its name from Lamar Hunt's daughter, she had a super ball. The super bowl was a rubber ball with something super inside.

    On September 11, 2001 America Airlines Flight 11 hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. It hit the South Tower at 9:03 a.m. Without any doubts the United States figured out that they were under attack.

    Important event in my life.
    In 2004, I went to an amazing preschool and meet my very bestfriend Carly Esh. It was at recess on the playground, I decieded to jump off the monkeybars. I twisted my ankle as I landed and I couldnt walk on it. Then, the teacher blew the whistle to come in but I couldnt walk, thats when a little blonde girl named Carly Esh helped me walk over, Even though I didnt know who she was, she still helped me. After that day we have been bestfriends ever since.

After the swearing-in ceremony a parade accompained the first family to the white house. Later in the evening Barack, and Michelle Obama went between 10 seperate official balls

    Right as the Challenger Space Shuttle was about to take off a fireball engulfed the spacecraft. It was only 73 seconds after the space shuttle took off that it blew up. The explosion killed seven astronauts and a teacher among them. This event ruined careers and rocked NASA to its core. Some people noticed a clear-out flaw before the Challenger took off.
