  • Revolutionary War 1775-1783

    Revolutionary War 1775-1783
    Beginning in 1775, the revolutionary war began as a fight between the Kingdom Of Great Britain and the thirteen colonies. One that eventually led to a larger world war between the newly formed United states, france, the netherlands, and spain, against Mysore. Eventually this led to the victory of the Americans, and the marking of the European recognition of The united States' independence.
  • Signing of The Declaration of Independance

    Signing of The Declaration of Independance
    On this date, the declaration of independance, a document created in order to proclaim the united states of Americas' independence from England and themselves as an independant country, was signed by 56 representatives. This was not the only declaration however, and several copies of the document have been found since then. The signing of this document impacted the unification of 48 states, soon to become 50.

    Ratifcication of The United States Constitution
    On this date, The US constitution was accepted by the United States Government as the official "Supreme Law of the Land" After much arguing between the Federalists and Antifederalists, the document was ratified/accepted as the country's official constitution.

    The Louisianna Purchase - McDougal Littel pg. 346
    Initially, Jefferson had only intended to buy the New Orleans port back from France in order to avoid hostiities with the people. However, the US was additionally offerd the Louisiann purchase from the french - they needed the money. Jeffereson decided to purchase the territory for the set price of 15 million dollars. This decision ultimately doubled the size of the US, providing more land for farmers, and eventually leading to an exploratorty expedition by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark.

    The Lewis and Clark Journey - McDougal Littel pg.346

    The Expidition, which departed in the summer of 1804, was led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark across the challenging scape of the Territory of Louisianna. The men were accompanied by their crew, as well as a Native American who aided them in their endeavors; saving a good majority of Clark's notes and journals. They made their way across the territory until finally reaching the pacific ocean. Seeing as they had accomplished their goal, the men set back along their now mapped courses.

    On this date, Abraham linoln was shot fatally by John Wilkes Booth, famous actor and confederate sympathizer. The event occured in the Ford's theatre in Washington. As he was the presisdent of the united states, this day marked the signifigcant death of one of America's greatest leaders.

    From when it began in 1914, to the end, in 1918, The World War I, often called The Great War, was the first of a progression of two world wide cataclysmic wars. The creation of The Allies, and The Central Powers occured on opposing sides. The war eventually resulted in the defeat and utter humiliation of Germany. Many believe this to be a major factor weighing in on the rise of the Nazis in WWII.

    The Stock Market crash of 1929, sometimes otherwise known as "Black Tuesday" or "The Wall Street Crash of 1929" was the day of the most devestating and dramatic stock market crash in history. The entire event came as a surprise to most everyone who was in the stock marketing business, due to the previously and seemingly indefinite high sales. This occurence was ultimately the beginning of the ten year Great Deppression, and had it's end when ten million men were forced into labor at war.

    Introduction of Superman
    Superman was first introduced to action comics through 'Action Comics #1' the first in the 'Action Comics' series. Before the superhero took his place in this comic book, the Superman strip had been continuously turned down by newspaper after newspaper, before finally being accepted by National Publications, under certain conditions. The end result profitted over 200,000 copies of the newspaper being distributed, profitting over 1,000,000 dollars, all due to the pages filled with Clark Kent.

    Attack on Pearl Harbor
    In the event of pearl Harbor, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes invaded and attacked Pearl Harbor's Naval Base, close by Honolulu, Hawaii. The damage to the US Naval base was catastrophic and and caused monumental damage to the US, while leaving Japan with light losses. This attack came as sheer shock to the US naval army, and immediately led into the world war II, the second of a world wide devestating event.

    At 8:14 japanese time, an atomic bomb was dropped in the center of Horoshima Japan. Over 80,000 people were instantly killed by the explosion itself, tens of thousands dying later from previous injururies or radiation poisoning. A massive decrease in population in japan was caused by this horrific event, impacting thousands of everyday lives as well as the population as a whole in Horoshima.

    Beginning in the 1950's, The Kporean War lasted aproximately three long and strenuous years, staging a battle between the southern and Northern sections of Korea. Certain restrictions in the Korean peninsula intensified the tension between the two halves of the country, and despite reoccuring Negotiations for reunification, the tension was only furthered. This war eventually led to the division of korea, an act that was strongly supported by the allies.

    On this date, elected candidate John F. Kennedy was officially sworn into office as the 35th president of the united states of America.

     The First Appearance of Spider-Man in Comics
    In 1962, Spiderman was officially introduced to the comic world as a superhero with the powers of a spider. The marvel comics, different from the usual superhero/sidekick scenerio, created this character who was just an average alone high school student. He could relate to most of the kids who read the books, and soon became a huge hit, creating an impact on young teenagers' worlds by teaching them one of the most infamous phrases used in the comic. "With great power comes great responsibility."

    On this day, The March on Washington was led against racial discrimination in the department of jobs and freedom. This march collected over 200,000 people together at the capitol of this nation in protest of the unfairness towards differently raced and classed people. The March on Washington positively effected the civil rights moevement, turning things for the better in most cases of black lively hood.

    Martin Luther King Jr. I Have A Dream speech
    Martin Luther King Junior Gives his monumental I Have a Dream Speech, changing the course of history as whitehouse members [J.F Kennedy] decide to alter the declaration of Independence with another amendment to the bill of rights. This speech was a major factor weighing into the success of The March On Wasington. The american way of life was completely altered because of the amendment added to the bill of rights, due to this speech.
  • First Super Bowl - Green Bay Packers vs Kansas City Chiefs

    First Super Bowl - Green Bay Packers vs Kansas City Chiefs
    On this date, The Green Bay Packers officially won the first professional Super-Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs. This date marked the iconic defeat of the previous NFL Champions to the "Upstart" AFL's. Although, before the match, many believed that because the AFL - Grenn Bay - players were younger, and newer, that they would blow away the Chiefs. This pedeliction proved to be true when the Packers were pronounced champions of a game won at 31-10.

    Space Shuttle Challenger Disaster
    On the 28th of January, a space shuttle [ the Challenger ] was launched into the sky, only to combust exactly 73 seconds later, bursting into a massive explosion of smoke and debris. Although some of the crew members were known to survive the initial seperation of the space shuttle, none lived through the impact of the water. The event soon led to the 32 month hitus of the shuttle program, and the formation of the Roger's commission appointed by ronald reagan to investigate the explosion.

    On this day, several terrorists hijacked four US airline planes, leading two of them to crash into the twin towers [World Trade Center] in Manhattan New York. Along with them, two supposed comrades flew the other planes into the pentagon, causing catastrophic damage to this building. Thus marked a historical event, as the world trade center, in addition to a portion of the pentagon, was demolished.

    On this date Barack Obama was Inaugurated as President of the unites staes for the first of his four year term. Barack's inauguration set a record attendance for any event ever to occur in Washington DC. This important date marked the date of our country's first black president, and encouraged the attendance of more inaugural events, comparitively to previous events.

    This was the day that my younger brother and I took our first trip on an airplane down to Wharton Texas in order to see our father, who had incedentilly moved there several weeks before. It was Our first time flying solo (without an adult/Chaufer) on a jetline. Although it was exciting and somewhat fun, the singular week down in the hot Texas sun was enough to tell me that I was perfectly fine living where I am, and that I would prefer not to go down again. Even so, it was nice to see our Dad.
