Assassination of President Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln, the current president at the time, was shot and fatally wounded at Ford's Theater. He was the first US president to be assassinated. He was rushed to Peterson's Boarding House where he died the next day in the morning. April 14, 1865 is the day he was shot, and April 15, 1865 was the day he died due to being shot the previous day.
